🌱 NEW Doodle & Discover Resource! 🍅

Plant Structures & Functions is here!

Students won’t just be handed completed notes—they’ll think, discuss, come to the board, doodle, and build their notes as they build their understanding.

Students explore how roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruit, and seeds each have different jobs—and how those structures work together to help a plant survive, grow, and reproduce.

🧠 Understanding Checkpoint + Answer Key

🎉 NEW RELEASE SPECIAL: 50% OFF for the first 48 hours!

If you teach plant structures and functions in upper elementary science, I hope you’ll take a peek! 💛

A little follow-up to last night’s post because I want to show you **what Doodle & Discover actually IS.** 💛🔎✏️

This isn’t just another set of Doodle Notes.

Students **THINK** about a science idea.
They **DISCUSS** what they notice and what they think.
They **COME TO THE BOARD** to share, draw, model, and make sense of it together.
And THEN they **DOODLE** what they’ve learned into their own notes.

The big difference?

**Students build their notes as they learn.** ❤️

The first Doodle & Discover is **Weathering vs Erosion**, and I’ve been pouring a ridiculous amount of time into getting this new format and instructional flow just right. 😂 But I really, really love where it’s headed.

And if you missed last night’s post, the first Doodle & Discover is still 50% off through tomorrow night! 🎉💛

My goal is to get kids **thinking, talking, drawing, modeling, and making sense of science**—instead of simply filling in notes.

🔎 Real science thinking.
💬 Real discussion.
✏️ Visual note building.
💡 Learning that sticks.

**More than notes — an interactive learning experience.**

And this is just the beginning! 🌎💛

🌱 **Next up: Plant Structure & Function!** I’m already working on it.

What science topic would you love to see become a **Doodle & Discover** next? 👇

🔬 **Looking for a scientific method review that actually makes students THINK?**

My **Scientific Method Spectrum Sleuth™: Color Quest** puts a twist on traditional color-by-code activities. Instead of simply matching vocabulary or answering recall questions, students analyze groups of statements, **identify the false statement**, and use their answers to reveal the mystery picture. 🎨🧠

Along the way, students review the **scientific method, experimental design, hypotheses, variables, data, conclusions, and scientific reasoning** while practicing the critical-thinking skills we want them using in science class.

It’s perfect for **review, stations, early finishers, sub plans, or independent work**—and it gives students something that feels fun without sacrificing meaningful science practice.

🌻 **Color. Think. Discover.**

🎉 **BONUS: It’s ON SALE through midnight tonight!** If this is one you’ve been thinking about adding to your science toolbox, today is a great time to grab it.

🌱 **Something NEW is growing at Black-Eyed Susan Science…**

My elementary teacher friends—you’ve been asking me for this for a LONG time. 💛

I’ve finally started working on a brand-new line of **elementary science Doodle Notes**, designed specifically with younger scientists in mind.

These won’t simply be my middle school Doodle Notes with easier vocabulary. I’m building them from the ground up around **elementary NGSS standards**, with lots of visual learning and purposeful doodling—students will draw, add, label, color, connect, and actually **use the page to make sense of the science**. ✏️🔎🌎

I’m starting with **4th grade science**, and if all goes according to plan, I’m hoping to have the very first one ready **Wednesday or Thursday!** 🎉

Now I need help from my elementary friends:

**What 4th grade science topics would YOU most love to have Doodle Notes for?**

Drop them below! 👇 I’m making my list, and your suggestions may very well decide what I create next. 💛
