Hello Students!
Spring Break is officially over--are you ready for the next phase? The teachers are supposed to meet tomorrow to figure out the details of operating a school when no one can be there. I will be preparing some learning opportunities for you, but when it comes to learning, what would you like to see happen during the next 4 weeks?
In the meantime, I would love it if you would do a few things for me:
1. 7th & 8th ELA READING Build a blanket fort for reading, and be sure to get about 20 minutes of eyeball exercise every day. The time I saw you, we distributed books, so I hope you have one you love! If you want to go above and beyond, stay in your fort and read all day!
2. 7th & 8th ELA WRITNG Start keeping a diary or journal. I write 3 full pages in my composition book every morning--its how I start my day, and let me tell you it is not very good writing. I just get my thoughts out, and it helps the rest of my day go more smoothly. If you like, you can write at night to record what happened. I don't do this, but I think I should. Some of you are writing stories--keep it going! 🙂
3. 7th GRADE WASHINGTON STATE HISTORY: Interview some of your family members to find out about their family history of living in Washington State. My great, great granddad walked across the Oregon Trail with his mom and dad and some brothers and sisters to get Washington in 1857. My great great great granddad served in the Washington Territory Legislature before Washington was a state, and my great granddad along with 3 brothers and 2 sisters walked from the Yakima area to Ferry County and started a homestead in 1901. That's where I grew up.
