[11/09/17]   PWC Recruiting Returns to DeAnza!

A few years back, a former DeAnza student, now a certified public accountant for PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PWC), one of the Big Four Accounting firms, reached out to the DeAnza accounting department with a request to start professional recruiting on campus. She indicated that when she transferred from DeAnza to San Jose State University that she and other transfer students were at a disadvantage in applying and competing for internships compared to four year students at the school because the recruiting process starts at the end of sophomore year when students are made aware of opportunities at the different firms.

She discovered that a number of her colleagues in the PWC San Jose office were DeAnza alumni like her and they helped persuade the firm to start recruiting at DeAnza – something no Big Four firm had ever done. For the past four years PWC has come to DeAnza in the Fall and Spring doing presentations and workshops providing opportunities and perspectives for students looking to enhance their chances in gaining a foothold in the competitive professional job market in the Santa Clara Valley.

The partnership between DeAnza and PWC continues, stronger than ever – with a number of DeAnza students landing placements as interns with the firm, and all presentation attendees gaining the most current perspectives on resume building, personal branding and professional development.
The most recent workshop was held on the DeAnza campus on Tuesday, November 7, with over 150 students in attendance and PWC promising to come again in the Spring term.
