JUNE 9-13 CAMP: This camp is designed for younger kids, and we will actually take in children as young as 5. This is a fun camp incorporating Disney songs, musical and acting games, dance, and arts and crafts activities. Our art teacher Ms Court will come in for a day of art. Some of our staff music teachers will be doing masterclasses in instruments taught at Melomania. This camp will also culminate in a final performance of staged songs.
JUNE 16-20 CAMP: This is the camp for older kids (11+). We will be discussing different styles of singing by analyzing contemporary artists, experimenting with different techniques, learning the difference between twang, mix, head voice, belt, etc. We will be exploring these technique elements/styles through “emotional” or “expressive” singing, identifying which element is appropriate for this or that emotion in a particular song (camper’s choice), we will then stage and present those songs to parents at the end of the camp. This is also an art and music fusion camp, and in the middle of the week our art teacher Ms Court will come in to teach art for several hours. Our graduate Kaylee Fernandez is going to be teaching this camp as well. Kaylee is now a voice major at Florida State University, a soon-to-be professional singer who can sing virtually anything, and who will be demonstrating a lot. We will also dive into acting for singers and drama techniques with her. Campers will leave the camp with better understanding of their voices as well as tools to get the best out of their instruments. Children younger than age 11 will be considered if they have had experience performing lead roles in their school shows.
