What can a week of summer camp look like at Ivybrook?
🌋 It looks like discovering what causes a volcano to erupt.
🦸♂️ It looks like building force fields and testing whether magnets can make a superhero fly.
🤖 It looks like using everyday materials to build a robot.
It is hands-on, imagination-driven, and rooted in real scientific thinking.

Preschool is the introduction to what learning feels like.
That first experience is foundational and impactful. Research in early childhood development consistently shows that the quality of a child's earliest educational environment impacts academic achievement, emotional development, and social skills well into the school years.
At Ivybrook Academy, we want that foundation to be built on joy. By blending Montessori and Reggio Emilia philosophies, our individualized curriculum meets early learners exactly where they are, so that learning is an exciting, welcoming adventure.

When we talk about our summer camps having a strong STEAM focus, we know it can sound a bit intimidating for a preschooler. Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math are big words for a four-year-old!
But at Ivybrook, STEAM is purposeful play, like testing different materials at the water table to discover which ones sink and which ones float, or building a bridge out of wooden blocks to figure out why it tips over. It is trial, error, and a whole lot of laughter!
That is what learning feels like at an Ivybrook Academy Summer Camp. Register your child today for a summer of discovery and fun!

We embrace child-led learning because we believe every child’s curiosity and interests are the key to unlocking their potential.
By encouraging exploration and decision-making through individualized instruction, we help preschoolers build confidence, critical thinking skills, and a lifelong love of learning.

An emergent curriculum means that our lessons often evolve based on the interests of the students.
If a classroom of young learners shows an interest in sharks, our educators build long-term projects around that curiosity. Students might research shark habitats in the classroom library, explore buoyancy at the water table, or paint collaborative ocean murals. By pivoting to follow the children's natural curiosity, we ensure high engagement and active participation in their own education.

Mathematics is inherently abstract, but early learners need a concrete foundation to truly grasp it. By using tactile materials, like number rods or geometric solids, children can physically manipulate mathematical concepts. This hands-on approach builds a deep, intuitive understanding of math rather than relying on rote memorization.
It also allows our educators to effectively support the diverse learning styles within our classrooms. Whether a student is a visual or tactile learner, our curriculum provides the specific tools they need to master complex concepts at their own unique pace.

For many children, Ivybrook Academy is their first interaction with a formal educational setting. Our objective is to ensure this introduction is positive, safe, and nurturing.
By fostering a secure attachment to school now, we remove the fear of learning. We believe that a child who feels safe and welcomed is a child who is ready to take academic risks.

Light tables are more than just a captivating visual; they are a powerful tool for discovery! When students explore transparent materials, colors, and shapes, they are actively developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
This unique sensory experience also acts as a natural gathering space, encouraging collaborative storytelling and creative problem-solving as children investigate the properties of light together.

It feels like just yesterday you were waiting for their very first word. Now, they have a story for absolutely everything.
A child's vocabulary expands at a remarkable rate during the preschool years. We honor this developmental stage by creating language-rich environments that encourage students to share their thoughts and theories.
Through engaging literature, interactive songs, and intentional conversation, our educators gently introduce new words and diverse sentence structures. This immersive approach ensures that every child feels valued and heard, while simultaneously building the essential literacy and communication skills they need for the future.

Preschool isn’t just for students; it’s an experience for the whole family! We view education as a partnership between the school and families. Inviting parents, grandparents, and community members into the school enriches the learning experience and fosters a sense of belonging.
During the school year, parents can expect:
🌿 Family Events: Regularly scheduled events, such as cultural celebrations, invite families to participate in the school community. There are also presentation events, like our annual Art Show and Young Author Celebrations, that are opportunities for families to recognize their child's achievements.
🌿 Classroom Involvement: During events like Career Week, we encourage parents and grandparents to share their skills or cultural backgrounds, enhancing the diversity and richness of classroom activities.
🌿 Community Projects: Collaborations with local organizations provide students with real-world learning opportunities and instill a sense of civic responsibility.
