*LINK IN BIO* This retreat offers a compassionate space for individuals experiencing a wide spectrum of losses — from the tangible, such as the death of a loved one, a relationship ending, or a career transition, to the less visible, such as feeling helpless in a world that seems to be filled with collective suffering, shifts in identity, changes in health, or the quiet accumulation of everyday overwhelm.
Through guided reflection, group sharing, movement, and restorative practices, participants will explore healthy ways to acknowledge, process, and integrate their experiences. Our time together will weave in mindfulness, creative expression, and gentle movement to help restore emotional balance and resilience.
By the end of the retreat, participants will leave with greater clarity, emotional tools for navigating change, and the reassurance of shared humanity — knowing that loss, in all its forms, is both deeply personal and universally understood.

The anniversary effect is a common occurrence among those who are grieving. As the anniversary of a loss draws near, emotions can become more intense, mirroring the feelings experienced initially. This can lead to increased sadness, anger, and anxiety, as well as irritability, fatigue, depression, and memory issues. It's crucial to acknowledge that these symptoms are a natural response to grief and not a reflection of personal weakness.
As you approach an anniversary, prioritize self-care by journaling, seeking guidance from a counselor, and openly communicating with your support network. Many individuals choose to take the day off and participate in meaningful activities that honor their loved one.

This two-night retreat is a supportive space to feel and heal. Grief is something we all must move with and through when something or someone we love is no longer in our life, but it can be difficult to put in the time and energy in a fast-paced world where everyone expects us to “have it together” or in other subtle ways to mask our grief for the comfort of others. This retreat is designed to step away from the world’s expectations and tune into the sacred work of processing our individual experience of grief.
This weekend is designed to support those moving through grief from all forms of loss including but not limited to: divorce, family estrangement, empty nest, career loss, loss of a pet, health issues/unexpected diagnosis, and of course human loss. We also welcome those who wish to attend in a supportive role.

Grief has the power to create in each person capacity to embrace the pain of others in a way that no other experience can.

One of my most favorite poets, Andrea Gibson, died on Monday after an extended battle with cancer. They wrote spectacularly honest poems about love, life, and death. Among them is “The Year of No Grudges,” which has healed me many times over, but my favorite is “Love Letter From the Afterlife,” which feels particularly appropriate today. Here is an excerpt:
“My love, I was so wrong.
Dying is the opposite of leaving.
When I left my body, I did not go away.
That portal of light was not a portal to elsewhere, but a portal to here.
I am more here than I ever was before.
I am more with you than I ever could have imagined. So close you look past me when wondering where I am. It’s Ok.
I know that to be human is to be farsighted.
But feel me now, walking the chambers of your heart, pressing my palms to the soft walls of your living.
Why did no one tell us that to die is to be reincarnated in those we love while they are still alive? Ask me the altitude of heaven, and I will answer, ‘How tall are you?’”

Yin is a yoga practice that asks you to relax into stretching poses for 3-5 minutes. And I absolutely hate it most of the time. I find myself getting angry both in my body and my mind. There are occasions where it is a place of peace, but usually it is an exercise in working on all the things from which I’ve been distracting myself.
Distraction- filling our time with social media, tv shows, smutty books (so great), and the company of friends can be incredibly helpful. Up until the point that it is harmful. The thing is, when we make ourselves constantly busy we frequently are running from something. It could be the truth about our situation, the grief sitting just on the edge of our periphery, waiting for us to stop running so we can meet it- feel it.
If you’ve been running from truths this week, give yourself the gift of stillness. See what comes up. Meet it with purpose and curiosity.

Life is not just the highs. It’s not just the lows, either. A person who is committed to living in the present knows it’s about being right here, no matter the feeling. Sit with the hard, recognize the joy, and acknowledge the ordinary. It’s all beautiful because it is life.
