Thank you to everyone who came out tonight to support our Lady Hornets and, most importantly, to show your love and support for Roxie. 🩷

The Lady Hornets drop the district opener in 3 sets tonight in Savoy. They gained some momentum late in the 3rd set and will look to continue that on Tuesday against Ector at home in our Pink Out game!

Players of the game tonight were Ella Ramsey, Rylie Stracener, Mya Hernandez, and Caddie Ivy who all brought some confidence and consistency throughout the game!

The JH Volleyball Team has had a couple of really good days recently! Saturday they went and competed in the Como-Pickton tournament and came home with the tournament championship!

They won their first game against Wolfe City in 3 sets, then beat Mount Vernon in 2 sets, and then beat Como-Pickton in 2 sets in the championship game!

Player of the day on Saturday was Keyleigh Ocheskey who ended the day with 19 aces, 5 blocks, and 34 kills!

They also played at home last night against Savoy and got the win over the Cardinals in straight sets!

Player of the game last night was Erin Quill who had a long serving run to end the 1st set and ended the night with 6 aces!

They will play again at Ector next Monday!

Last Thursday the HS Cross Country Team competed at the meet in Canton! Top performers for the meet go out to the entire team as everyone was able to PR at this meet!

The girls finished 8th out of 19 teams and the boys placed 11th out of 23 teams despite being the only 1A school there!

Girls top finisher was Paisley Hargrove who ran a 13:16.75 for a 27th place finish out of 140 runners!

Boys top finisher was Jäger Worrell who placed 8th out of 160 runners with a 17:05.23!

Both the HS and JH have one more race at Mount Pleasant this Saturday before the District race Wednesday October 14th!

Last night the JH Volleyball team played a tough match here at home against Dodd City! The B team continues to get better with serving and playing the ball but lost in 2! The A Team won a hard fought game in 3 sets!

The B Team player of the game was Charli Sparks who did a good job with serving as well as playing the ball back over!

The A Team players of the game were Elaina Klahre who had a couple long serving streaks and Keyleigh Ocheskey whose net presence gave us a big boost towards the team win!

The A Team will be back in action this Saturday at the Como-Pickton Tournament!

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and we’re proud to wear gold in honor of every child fighting cancer and the families standing beside them. We wear our gold jerseys in support of our own MG Hornet athlete Carson Bryant.

JH baseball A team won 7-3 against a good Fruitvale team, scored 4-3 after the first inning and the score held until a 52 minute lightning delay. The boys came out hot and shutdown the Fruitvale offense and piled on 3 runs in the 5th inning before the time expired. Players of the game were Asher Hasten who went 3-3 with 2 doubles 5 RBIs and 1 run scored. Carson Hegseth went 2-2 with a double, walk, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored while throwing 3 scoreless innings and striking out 4.

B team followed with a strong performance of their own winning 3-0. Players of the game were Enzo Thompson going 1-2 with a double, 2 RBIs, and a run scored. Coleson Middleton threw 1.2 scoreless innings recording 3 strikeouts in the victory.

The JH Hornets will close out their season next Monday against North Hopkins at home. Keep up the good work boys!

Last week high school volleyball split their games against Paris Sports League, and Tom Bean! Paris Sports League was a 4 set win, while Tom Bean was a 3 set loss!

Player of the game against Paris Sports League was Ella Ramsey who recorded a triple double with 17 aces, 14 assists, and 12 digs!

Player of the game against Tom Bean was Kalea Weatherford who had 12 kills, 3 aces, and 2 blocks!

The Lady Hornets are off this week as they get ready for district starting next Friday October 2nd at Savoy!

JH Baseball dropped a tough game last night to a great Harts Bluff team 4-3! Unfortunately with jr high rules, they play drop dead at a certain time limit and time ran out with us at the plate with 2 runners in scoring position with Carson Hegseth at the plate with an 1-0 count. If you have seen Carson play, you know what that means! The boys battled the whole game and look to learn from this game and continue to improve.

Player of the game was Carson Hegseth who was 2-2 with an RBI and threw 4 scoreless innings striking out 7 and walking 1.

This loss puts JH Baseball at 3-1 on the season and will play again next Monday at Fruitvale!

Last 2 weeks of Cross Country the HS and JH teams have both competed at Sulphur Springs and our home Miller Grove Invitational!

Sulphur Springs meet the top runners were as follows:

HS Boys Jager Worrell who finished 11th with a 17:18
HS Girls Paisley Hargrove who finished 21st with a 13:37
JH Boys Max Perez who finished 5th with a 12:18
JH Girls Keyleigh Ocheskey who finished 18th with a 14:51

JH Boys finished 3rd as a team!

Top 20 finishers include: Levi Scott who finished 7th with a 12:46

Miller Grove Invitational

HS Boys Jager Worrell who finished 1st overall with a 16:54
HS Girls Addison May who finished 7th with a 14:08
JH Boys Max Perez who finished 5th place with a 12:36
JH Girls Keyleigh Ocheskey who finished 8th with a 14:33

Both the Hs Boys and Girls took first as a team while the JH Boys finished 2nd!

Catching up on the last 2 weeks of volleyball:

HS has gone 2-2 with wins against Harts Bluff and Yantis, and losses to North Hopkins and Cumby.

Outstanding player goes to the whole team who have been given compliments by opposing coaches as well as referees about how much better they are getting!

JH A team has gone 1-1 with a win against Savoy last week and a tough loss to Ector last night in 3 sets.

Players of the game were Keyleigh Ocheskey, Elaina Klahre, Eryn Brown, and Brooklyn May who all went on long serving runs I. The two games!

JH B team had their first game last night and lost to Ector but continuously got better as the game went on!

Players of the game were Charli Sparks and Hayden Sears!

HS plays at home tonight against Paris Sports League starting at 5:00 PM!
