At our Cumberland campus, our younger students took their STEAM learning outside! They explored their surroundings, searching for bugs and other critters while making observations about the world around them.

They also got hands-on with thermometers to measure the temperatures of different objects outside. One surprising discovery? Our raised flower bed registered a whopping 137.4 degrees!

Learning is always more exciting when you can get outside and explore!

We are excited to welcome Mr. Joe DeVillers to the Ascension Academy team! Mr. DeVillers will be serving as our music teacher at the Cumberland campus and as one of our physical education teachers at the Cameron campus. He will also be assisting with graphic design projects and will be available to provide private music lessons.

The Lord led Joe out of the graphic design world and into teaching in a unique way. After working for a large company as a graphic designer, he realized the Lord was calling him to discipleship and teaching through his service at his church in Menomonie. While earning his teaching license, he served as a youth mentor, youth group leader, Awana teacher, worship team member (playing guitar, upright and electric bass, and cajón), substitute teacher, and cross-country coach.

This will be his seventh year teaching in northwestern Wisconsin and his first year at Ascension Academy. He is incredibly thankful to have answered the Lord's call to teaching and discipleship. Joe and his wife, Breann, along with their three children, Emmet, Nora, and Lucy, are excited to become part of the Ascension community.

One passage that has been especially meaningful to Joe is Ephesians 2, particularly verse 8:

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God." — Ephesians 2:8 (ESV)
