Earlier this year I wrote a grant to grow our coding curriculum. Our robots came over spring break, and we’re anxious to see what dash and dot can bring to our classroom!

A great looking opportunity tomorrow, per TGL

“Come explore science!!

Who: Girls in grades 5-7 (only 14 spots available so reply by email to reserve a spot!)
Where: Culver Academy in the Dicke/Roberts Hall of Math and Sciences
When: This Saturday, 3/23 from 1-3pm

Snacks will be provided!

Parents/Guardian will be required to drop off and sign a permission slip/waiver for each student to be able to participate in all activities.

In order to promote young girls to develop their passions in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math) myself (Lillian Gregorash), as a part of my senior service project, and Dr. Rebecca Sam are holding a STEM workshop for girls between 5th and 7th grade this Saturday March 23rd from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in Roberts Math and Science building at Culver Academy.

We will be learning about some famous female contributors to STEM fields such as Rosalind Franklin (who helped to discover the double helical structure of DNA), Ada Lovelace (the first computer programmer, who started programming before computers were even invented!), and some of the famous ladies who have helped us literally reach the stars (and space J) such as Katherine Johnson and Sally Ride. We will also be doing some fun hands-on STEM activities such as extracting DNA from a strawberry, learning to code a light show on a basic computing system, and learning about the science behind rockets and flight by building our own mini-rockets.

Please come join us this Saturday, March 23rd from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in Roberts Math and Science building at Culver Academy, to play mad-scientist for a few hours and celebrate women’s achievements in STEM fields.

We can only take 14 kids, so please sign up …”
