Echo Horizon School

Echo Horizon School Echo Horizon is a Pre-K-6 elementary school that educates children in a safe, inclusive community that is down-to-earth and free of unhealthy pressure.

Our unique curriculum combines the strongest traditional practices with research-based innovation. We are elementary-school experts who educate students in an intentionally small and kind community where they are free to explore, question, and imagine. Our Head of School Peggy Procter is an educational leader who has instituted a “best of both worlds” educational philosophy for our elementary scho

ol-age learners. Echo’s talented teachers focus on the whole child and are dedicated to each student. They themselves are lifelong learners who grow professionally and engage in their craft. Fifteen percent of our students are deaf or hard of hearing (DHH). These exceptional DHH students use hearing technology such as hearing aids and cochlear implants. They learn and play alongside their hearing peers. This unique educational model benefits both hearing and non-hearing students--all students develop empathy, an appreciation of difference, and a lived understanding of other experiences. Fifty percent of our students identify as people of color and our students come from 46 different zip codes within Los Angeles County. Over fifty percent of our Leadership team are people of color as well. We prioritize curiosity, creativity, collaboration, leadership, gratitude, conflict resolution, and a growth mindset.

Popsicles, friends, and a little afternoon fun! ☀️🍧💙 Our Hawks and their families gathered on the yard to celebrate one of our favorite annual Echo Horizon traditions—Popsicles on the Yard! It was the perfect way to cool off, catch up, and enjoy a sweet start to the new school year together.

This morning, Upper Elementary families gathered for with our new Director of Upper Elementary Anne Norris. ☕️💙 As families got to know Anne, she shared what immediately drew her to : the warmth and genuineness of the community, which felt familiar from her time at the Lesley Ellis School

But it was more than a feeling of familiarity. Anne was also drawn to our integrated approach to learning, our deep commitment to inclusivity and , and the ways those values come to life in meaningful ways. After years in a school community where anti-bias work was an important part of the culture, she recognized that same genuine commitment at Echo Horizon

And when she learned about our sixth-grade Project, she saw another powerful connection: a belief in learning experiences that ask scholars not simply to talk about their values, but to reflect, engage, and put them into action.

Safety is always a top priority at ! 🛡️

During Faculty & Staff Planning Week, we partnered with our longtime partner, Joffe Emergency Services, to strengthen our emergency preparedness and put our procedures into practice. Our team participated in a hands-on reunification drill at Syd Kronenthal Park, practicing the important steps we would take to safely reunite students with their families during an emergency.

We were also pleased to welcome Joffe Emergency Services Founder & CEO Chris Joffe, who joined his safety team in guiding our faculty and staff through the training.

Preparation matters. By practicing together, asking questions, and continually refining our procedures, we’re working to ensure our community is ready when it matters most.

What does education look like when the tools students use to learn are changing faster than ever?

As part of Planning Week, we welcomed Eric Hudson to to spend time with our faculty and staff and explore that very question—particularly as continues to reshape how we learn, create and communicate.
Eric is a facilitator and strategic advisor who helps schools make sense of what’s changing in education. After a decade at Global Online Academy, where he most recently served as Chief Program Officer, he now works with schools around the world on learner-centered assessment, human-centered leadership and strategic program design.

We’re excited to continue the conversation with Eric during an upcoming virtual session focused on generative AI in education, where we’ll explore emerging research, the opportunities and challenges of AI, and how we can help students become thoughtful, responsible and ethical users of these tools.

Thank you, Eric, for joining us and bringing such an important conversation to Echo Horizon School!
