WOMEN’S MARCH FOUNDATION & CULVER CITY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT HOST A TOWN HALL COMMEMORATING COLUMBINE - 20 YEARS LATER
Join us for a Town Hall on Gun Safety

Women’s March Foundation & Culver City Unified School District will host A Town Hall Commemorating Columbine - 20 Years Later on Saturday, April 20, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Culver City High School - Robert Frost Auditorium, 4401 Elenda Street, Culver City, California.

This year, on the 20th anniversary of the tragic school shooting at Columbine, join us for a town hall commemorating the victims and survivors. Together with the Culver City Unified School District, California School Boards Association and Moms Demand Action, Women’s March Foundation will be holding a discussion on gun safety issues, and how we can prevent further tragedies from taking place in our schools.

School shootings often make the front pages, but gun accidents and suicides by gun are also heavily impacting our students. In wake of the Parkland and Sandy Hook tragedies, efforts to expand gun legislation have increased – but we still have so much work to do to make sure every student and teacher feels safe in school. We need a call to action in our communities.

“As political leaders, we have to ask ourselves ‘what are we doing to ensure student lives have not been lost in vain’. Each time we empower students to lift their own voices and demand a better future we are taking bold steps in the direction of doing the right thing. I look forward to hearing the voices of the students who are and have been so tragically impacted by this violent trend that has now been on the rise for twenty years too long.” – Kelly Kent, Ph.D., President, CCUSD Board of Education.

“As a school board member, the safety of our children is my number one priority. Twenty years since the horrific Columbine tragedy, our nation has made very little progress in curbing the scourge of gun violence. Let us recommit ourselves to the fight for common-sense gun control and policies that will enhance the physical and socio-emotional wellbeing of our students.” – Kelly Gonez, CSBA Regional Director.

Join the Culver City Unified School District, California School Boards Association, Moms Demand Action and Women's March Foundation to share information and to network around creating a safer future for our children. Program to include speakers from California School Board Association, Moms Demand Action educators, safety experts, and community advocates.

Together we can create the change we need to save lives and put the pressure on our leaders to issue common sense gun reform and make sure a tragedy like this – and so many others – never happens again.

RSVP now to the event, and be a part of the much-needed reform in gun control laws in this country.
