Wednesday - Luisa was reluctant to return to school. She was a busy working medical assistant and mother. But her daughters encouraged her to reach higher. Thanks to West's class scheduling designed for working adults, she was able to make it all work and excel. This Fall, she will transfer to UCLA to complete her Bachelor's degree.

Wednesday - After a 9-year gap in his education, Edwin struggled to find motivation to keep going. However, after enrolling at West, participating in Puente, and meeting some amazing friends and professors, he was able to find purpose. Edwin will transfer to Cal State Fullerton in the Fall with the goal of becoming a physical therapist.

Congratulations to Prof. Imhotep Coleman who was recognized on the Jennifer Hudson show for co-founding the Inglewood-based Urban Scholar Academy, a 15-year-old nonprofit that offers K-12 tutoring, summer camps, homeschooling support, and filmmaking programs for underserved students. The episode also featured several of their students who shared stories of how the program changed their lives.

BENEFITS OF JOINING:
While enrolled in our CYLC fellowship, students will be partnered with a community-based organization where they will engage in work-based learning opportunities.
Fellows will be awarded up to $10,000 in stipends and up to $5,000 in scholarships during their participation in the nine-month fellowship.
Earn Certificates in Climate Change Studies and Environmental Justice.
