Innovation as Abstraction - Reflecting on Summer Reading

Willows 7th & 8th Graders were tasked with a identifying a prominent theme from a book they read over their Summer Break. After they selected their theme, they had to consider it in an abstract way, reflecting on visual cues, colors, and imagery to illustrate the theme into a single index card. This displays how our school-wide theme Innovate, requires individuals to explore familiar topics in an a new way. Students chose such varying themes as Allyship, Betrayal, Rebellion, and Erasure, showing how extremely broad concepts can be depicted in concise and limited ways. Great Job Willows 7th & 8th Grade!

The First Day of the 2026/27 School Year!

The energy on campus today said it all, whether it was new friendships being made, old friends picking up right where they left off, or our incredible teachers and staff setting the tone for a year that’s already buzzing with momentum. We jumped straight into hands-on learning, emblematic of this year’s theme - Innovate. If today was any indication, our Willows community is ready to think differently, create boldly, and make this a year to remember! Here’s to 2026/2027 — Let’s Go Willows!

Teachers are back on campus and the countdown is on!

This week, our teachers returned to campus and dove back in — going over emergency preparedness trainings, learning best practices for communication and collaboration during co-teaching, and transforming their classrooms into spaces ready for exploration and discovery.

One week until the first day of school, and honestly? We can’t wait to have our community back where it belongs — on our beautiful campus, together.

See you soon, Willows families!

Follow along this summer as we trace the DK-8 Model of a Willows education — from first wonder in DK to confident leadership in 8th Grade.

Middle School marks a new chapter, shaped by real cognitive, social-emotional, and physical growth. As students become more independent, our program challenges them intellectually while helping them build the organizational skills, self-reflection, and personal responsibility needed to navigate it all. They learn to ask great questions, think critically, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively — skills that will serve them well beyond Willows.

This stage brings new opportunities for parents, too. As students negotiate greater independence, we partner closely with families to keep them informed and supported through every step of the journey.

Whether they’re tackling a challenging project, learning to advocate for themselves, or building deeper relationships with peers and teachers, every experience in Willows Middle School helps students grow into thoughtful, capable young leaders — ready for 8th Grade and beyond.
