Treehouse Tots Preschool Treehouse Tots Preschool is located in Culver City/Playa Vista area. We are open M-F 8:00am-3:30pm. We are NOW ENROLLING ages 3 to 5!

We believe that play is children’s work. When children play, they are learning about the world that surrounds them. When they run, jump, and climb they are learning about the movement of their bodies and spatial awareness. Children learn social studies and practice abstract thinking while participating in dramatic play. Children develop motor skills and mathematical thinking while they build with

blocks and other materials. Social skills develop and foster as they play with their classmates throughout the day. Together, these interactions provide them with the skill set to negotiate and communicate with peers and adults. We strive to provide a high quality learning environment that meets their development needs while introducing them to a life-long, meaningful relationship with the natural world. We are proud to provide our children with two separate and equally valuable outdoor environments: a nature based play area and a traditional play area. Our indoor environment is designed to promote exploration and cooperative play. Providing children with a calm and home-like atmosphere allows them to thrive academically while feeling safe and supported.

Painting on a vertical surface 🎨

Teachers hung a white sheet vertically & set out rainbow colored paints. Other than providing those materials, we wanted this activity to be 100% child-led.

We gave them no instructions or guidelines. We watched them as their imaginations came to life, covering the sheet with paint, despite the challenges of the blowing wind & it not having solid backing. We watched them throw paint, splatter paint with their brushes, print their own hands, crouch, climb on top of chairs & even pour paint directly from the jars while watching it cascade down.

It was a joy to witness such joy & creativity!

Yoga Heart Stacking:

The children were given the freedom to stack conversation hearts in any way they pleased. Some made tall stacks, some made long stacks. There were lines & patterns and even “cities”.

While this activity involved fine motor skills, spatial awareness, balance & building ginger strength… Our main focus was to practice patience. We really focused on NOT getting frustrated if our towers fell over or if a friend accidentally bumped into us. We told ourselves it was okay to take a deep breath, start over or try again.

We are always grateful for how yoga helps our bodies, but this week we really loved seeing how yoga has helped our brains & our emotions.
