WCU Alumni Association

WCU Alumni Association The official page for WCU Alumni to stay connected with their friends and fellow Catamounts. Once a Catamount always a Catamount.

A community that's built from and defined by the people who call Western Carolina home, first as students and then as alumni. Formed in 1893, our Alumni Association fosters a lifelong connection to WCU through programs and services so that no matter where you are, you'll always have a home in Cullowhee.

THE CATS ARE HEADED TO LONDON! 🇬🇧

Special thanks to over 100 of our POTM alumni & friends (Long Purple Line Club) who came out yesterday to celebrate the end of band camp with us and learn this special news! We are so excited for the season to begin.

Make sure you keep in touch if you want to join the trip or help fund our students to go by filling out the survey (QR code or go.wcu.edu/londoninterest)🫡🧾Hope to see you in Cullowhee this season as the baddest band in the land takes the field once again.

Brown Cafeteria, built in 1957, replaced the smaller, family-style dining hall in Moore Building that had served students since the 1920s. It was named for Frank H. Brown, who first came to campus as a student at Cullowhee Academy in 1888, then went on to teach science under several college presidents until 1950.

Fun fact: Brown never actually went away. In 2017, WCU preserved 94% of the original building through a major renovation, so if you've eaten at Brown Hall recently, you were standing in the same bones as the cafeteria in this photo.

Real talk, Catamounts: what's the one WCU dining hall or Cullowhee restaurant food you still think about years later? Drop it below & bonus points if you tell us your grad year too. 🍽️💜

Apparently you can take the Catamount out of Cullowhee but you can't keep Catamounts from finding each other in the wild... is that how the saying goes?

We hear it ALL THE TIME: you're on vacation, in an airport, at a concert, halfway across the world... and somehow you end up meeting someone with a Western connection.

So tell us your story... What's the most random place you've bumped into a fellow Catamount?

With the soccer world in the spotlight right now, we caught up with one of WCU's own professional players earlier this month. ⚽️

This month on the Western Wednesday Podcast, we were joined by Becca Campbell '25, who helped lead the Catamounts to a historic 2023 season that included Southern Conference regular season and tournament championships before signing her first professional contract in Germany. We got to talk about championship moments in Cullowhee and life overseas, this is an episode you won't want to miss!
