Our ELA students completed a research writing unit! Throughout several weeks, students researched a topic of their choice connected to one or more major subject areas. Their topics included the impacts of dystopian literature, suspense, and graphic novels; revolutions throughout history; climate change and its impact; and pollution and its impact on dams, among many others. Students developed thesis statements, conducted research, evaluated sources, and constructed a 4–6 page research paper complete with a title page and annotated bibliography. To wrap up the unit, students presented their research papers to their peers!
