APPROVED!! TEMPLATETAB

TemplateTab Copies a Graphic Organizer Per Student

TemplateTab is one of the first things I ever coded, and I think one of the best things I've coded. Special thanks to Alicia Williams and John McGowan for helping me get this published to the G Suite Marketplace.

Install TemplateTab

All Students in the Same Spreadsheet

If you have ever taken an online workshop with me you will know I love having everyone in the same spreadsheet. Why open 30 when you can open one?! I use the TemplateTab Add-on to make this easy. Now after 5 years, it is publicly available for anyone to install it!

Note: TemplateTab collects NO data. It simply creates sheets within the same spreadsheet. It also gives you the ability to create a fresh copy for use with a different class of students.

How It Works

After installing the Add-on locate TemplateTab in the Add-on menu for any Google Sheets Spreadsheet. The first https://alicekeeler.com/2019/12/23/approved-templatetab/

Google Classroom: EdTech Challenge
Create a Google Classroom for other teachers to join with short challenges.

Student View of Google Classroom

One of the things that can be a little confusing about Google Classroom is that the teacher side does not match the student side. It will be easier for teachers to understand how students interact with Google Classroom if the teachers participate in a Google Classroom class as a student. Using Google Classroom for professional development has been very popular. This not only is an efficient way to deliver PD and resources but is a great way to expose teachers to the student perspective of Google Classroom.

Site EdTech Leader

If you are someone on your campus who teachers look to for tech help, consider creating an "EdTech Challenge." Create a Google Classroom class and invite the teachers on your campus. Create short tasks, suggestion that they take 10 minutes or less. Create some challenges that give teachers easy ideas for https://alicekeeler.com/2021/10/10/google-classroom-edtech-challenge/

5 Google Jamboard Templates
Who doesn't love Google Jamboard? There are so many great ways to use Google's collaborative whiteboard tool. Kim Mattina and I have over 150 templates in our book "Teaching with Google Jamboard." Here are a few Google Jamboard templates to get started with!

1. Avatar Warmup

A teacher friend was looking for a fun daily warm-up activity for summer. Her students are virtual though, so a digital solution was needed. Even if your students are in person, this Avatar Warm-Up will be super fun. First, make a copy of this Google Slides Avatar Creator. Share it with the students to have them add a slide and design an avatar of themselves. I have it preset to be 1 x1.5 inches and a transparent background. Use the FILE menu to download as PNG (important!) Add each student's avatar to the Jam using the insert image tool.

Share the Jam with the students so they have edit access. Give a prompt such as "Should there be homework on the weekends?" or any https://alicekeeler.com/2022/06/24/5-google-jamboard-templates/

Magically Convert Google Docs to Slides

https://youtu.be/CB0Vg2-8Sy0

Like magic take any of your Google Docs and convert them to Google Slides!! This is going to be your new favorite Google Add-on.

Doc to Slides by Alice Keeler

Alice Keeler coded this Add-on FREE for teachers (and everyone.) This is an Add-on for Google Slides. It does one simple thing. Takes the text out of your Google Doc and super fast turns it into Google Slides.

Install Docs to Slides by alice Keeler

Paragraphs

How Doc to Slides by Alice Keeler works is to take each paragraph in any of your Google Docs and sends each paragraph to it's own slide.

A paragraph is defined by a hard carriage return.

Every time you hit the enter key in the Google Doc a new paragraph is created.

Add-on Menu

Open any Google Doc in Google Drive and select Doc to Slides from the Add-ons menu. Select "Show Sidebar."

Create Google Slides

It is one click of a button to convert https://alicekeeler.com/2021/07/21/magically-convert-google-docs-to-slides/

Your Google Drive is a Hot Mess

Let's be honest, we have not from the beginning of our use of Google Drive been diligent about organizing it and now it's a hot mess! Here are a few steps to help clean it up.

Create a Hot Mess Folder

Let's start fresh!!! In your Google Drive create a folder and call it "Hot mess" or whatever you want :) Now DRAG EVERYTHING in your Google Drive into this folder. This may take you some time. Do this while you're watching a tv. Now your Google Drive appears to have a single folder.

Create New Folders

Now that your Google Drive is down to "one folder" think about how you wish you had organized your Google Drive. Create folders you think you will need.

Tip: Create a "Share" folder and set the settings to be "Anyone with the link can view." Anything you put in that folder you have confidence you can share out and others will be able to see the file.

Change to Anyone Can View
