Cuchara Valley Recreation Program Cuchara Valley Recreation Program: Hikes, Bingo, Fun Runs and more! Over the years it has developed to encompass everyone, the young and the old.

The Cuchara Valley Recreation Program was created to get the kids out of their house socializing, hiking and learning about nature, and most importantly having fun. We offer hikes, weekly bingo, and an annual fun run. In the past five years we have also added educational opportunities with our Chautauqua program.

Call it a wrap. Our 2026 season is done. Thank you to everyone that came to a Bingo!, Ran/walked in the 4th of July Fun Run, joined us for music or donated to our program!

We ended the season with Willson and McKee. As always, they were terrific! Thanks for your music, storytelling and fun personalities!

Thank you everyone who joined me for the Cuchara History Walk! A large crowd with a great mix of long time families and relatively recent folks! Thank you Lois Vostral for your knowledge and obvious love of the valley.

I will complete my Cuchara History book! Pinkie promise!

Our final activity of the weird 2026 season will be two wonderful Celtic musicians, Willson and McKee. Musicians, storytellers and just wonderful folks. There’s a lot going in the valley but I’d love to see you at this concert.

Here's a chance to improve your pictures — whether you use a phone or a camera to capture them and whether you're an absolute beginner or already a pretty good phototaker who wants to learn more. Come pick up a tip, a trick, or a new skill for shooting and editing photos. You might even catch a bit of the theory behind it all. Certainly you'll catch some fun and camaraderie in this flexible and free-flowing workshop.
