It’s that time of the year again! Engage Dance Theatre’s “The Nutcracker” is co-produced with the Raue Center for the Arts, with performances on December 19 & 20 at 1pm & 5pm, and a special Sensory Friendly performance at 6pm on Friday, December 18.

Auditions are Sunday, August 30, and will be held at Engage Dance Academy for dancers ages 3-10yrs.

Ms Meghan McHale is in the house! When you train with Engage you not only get Best of the Fox Best Studio for Dance instruction for the past 9 years in a row, but you also get the best professional guest teachers! Former Gus Giordano Company dancer Ms Maeghan. She is back for her 3rd year teaching our EDT dancers L3-Company, teaching styles of Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet and she is setting a competition group piece for 5 of our Études & Comp Crew dancers. Engage is taking a break this week, but we start back next week with our exciting Fall session which includes auditions for our EDT Nutcracker, a true Crystal Lake holiday tradition in partnership with the Raue Center for the Arts in downtown Crystal Lake. Partnering Thursday💕 Thank you to our professional male dancers, Mr Joe and Mr Luis, for joining us. In our L5 class our 11-13yr olds worked pique turns across the floor, demonstrated here by 12yr old Morgan. Each of our 3 partnering classes has a different focus depending on age and technique level. We are so lucky to have Pas de Deux classes every week during our summer intensive and twice a month during the year.

This class is taught by our very own Mr Marc (former leading artist with Milwaukee Ballet for 13years) joined by current or former professional dancers. This past week we had the absolute privilege to be joined by Mr Pedro, former soloist with English National Ballet (our Cavalier for Nutcracker), and Mr Randy, current leading Artist with Milwaukee Ballet.

Arthur, one of our EDT Trainee dancers, takes our partnering classes as well, learning the skills a male dancer needs for this profession.

Our Pas de Deux classes are multi layered with teaching our female & male students the art of classical and contemporary partnering. This creates a wonderful harmonious atmosphere for everyone to be inspired, learn, and form a wonderful level of respect for partnering from both perspectives. The level of training this adds to our dancers is off the charts, along with having the opportunity to speak with these incredible artists and ask them questions.
