I had the honor and privilege to work with Dr. Tim Mahaffy for 10-years, serving as the principal at Fox River Grove Middle School. Dr. Mahaffy is a man of integrity and if you want someone who always puts your kids first then you should vote for him. In addition, to serving as the Superintendent in School District #3, he was also the Business Manager and he understands the intricacies of school budgets. Under Dr. Mahaffy's leadership, District #3 created a solid budget while at the same time, abating property taxes.

To the Editor,

The voters in Crystal Lake School District 47 will not find a more qualified candidate for their school board than Tim Mahaffy. As a colleague of Mahaffy’s, I can assure you his 30 years of dedication and experience as a former teacher, assistant principal, principal, and superintendent and business manager will well serve the District 47 community.

Mahaffy understands the many challenges facing school districts and their students today. As the leader of Fox River Grove School District 3, Mahaffy carefully planned and worked with the Board of Education to save enough money to expand and refresh facilities, increase security measures, and introduce STEM programs throughout the district while abating over $1.2M to the taxpayers. Throughout his tenure, he worked to reduce the district’s debt, leaving only one more bond payment when he retires at the end of June.

Much of Mahaffy’s success can be attributed to his forward-thinking approach, sound fiscal planning, and strong communication skills. Mahaffy is an organized planner who does his research so he can carefully weigh the pros and cons to make an informed decision. He does not jump on the latest bandwagon, but rather asks if it makes sense to meet the needs of today’s students. Mahaffy understands the intricacies of school finance and the governance role of a school board member. He actively listens to others and engages in discussions to better understand their perspectives. His collaborative nature and ability to build positive relationships with others helps Mahaffy seek win-win solutions.

There is no doubt that voting for Tim Mahaffy is definitely a win-win for the Crystal Lake School District 47 community.
