TAHC released movement restrictions for areas of Texas previously designated as New World screwworm (NWS) Infested Zones. Following coordinated surveillance and eradication activities, designated areas of the following counties were released from NWS movement restrictions the week of August 31-September 4, 2026:
-IZ 03: Gillespie, Kerr, and Kimble Counties
-IZ 02A: La Salle and Webb Counties
-IZ 05: Coke and Tom Green Counties
-IZ 01B: Uvalde and Zavala Counties
-Area of IZ 06: Kimble, Schleicher, and Sutton Counties

🍀💚Zavala County 4-H Club Officer Trainings
This week, officers from the Batesville, Crystal City, La Pryor, and Shooting Sports 4-H Clubs participated in the Zavala County 4-H Officer Trainings. During the trainings, officers learned about their roles and responsibilities, parliamentary procedure, and effective leadership skills to help guide their clubs throughout the year. They also practiced several icebreaker activities that they can use to engage and connect with their fellow 4-H members.

We are excited to see these young leaders put their skills into action and look forward to all they will accomplish during the upcoming 4-H year!

The Zavala County 4-H Council Officer Applications are now open! This is a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills while representing and serving the 4-H members of Zavala County. Council officers work alongside the County Extension Agent to help plan and promote 4-H events, coordinate activities, lead community service projects, and support county-wide 4-H programs throughout the year.

We’re excited to announce that we will be hosting a Market Day in La Pryor, Texas, on October 10, 2026, in collaboration with Zavala County Precinct 4, Commissioner Florencio Melendrez, and Justice of the Peace Susie Bermea. The event will operate just like the Zavala County Farmers Market. If you are interested in participating as a vendor, please register using the online form. The deadline to sign up is September 25, 2026.

If you're a registered 4-H volunteer interested in helping youth develop their skills in Archery, Rifle, or Shotgun, consider becoming a Certified 4-H Shooting Sports Coach!

The District 12 Shooting Sports Coaches Certification is coming to La Copa Ranch September 26–27. Participants will complete both classroom and range instruction while gaining the knowledge needed to support a safe and successful 4-H Shooting Sports program.
