Our incoming students discovered their house assignments today: a Field School tradition, joining either the Blue 💙 or Silver 🩶 house before competing in the first annual game of Capture the Flag! Throughout the year, houses will compete for points across a variety of activities, building community and school spirit along the way. Welcome, Falcons!

Next up in our summer series is Elijah! He had a great summer! He finished it out with a trip to northern Pennsylvania to visit family, enjoyed scenic views, and played a day of black light pirate mini golf. He said it was a wonderful summer, and he is so excited to get back next week and see his friends and teachers to start his 6th-grade year.

The devastating loss of Camden Callihan has been felt across our entire community this week. Camden was a 2025 Field School graduate and a rising sophomore at Western Albemarle High School. He was a beloved member of our community, a kind, curious, and thoughtful student who embodied the very best of Field School. He was a wonderful friend and classmate whose warmth, generosity, and kindness made a lasting impact on those around him.

Our hearts are with the Callihan family during this incredibly difficult time, and with loved ones and friends grieving alongside them. The Callihan family is deeply woven into the fabric of our community, and Camden's loss is felt by many.

This summer, rising 8th grader Elijah is heading to the AAU Junior Olympics! 🏃‍♂️🏅 He qualified in the 3000m Race Walk and will compete at the AAU Junior Olympics.

The Field School broke ground Thursday on a new campus just west of Charlottesville, off Barracks Road, marking a $15 million investment in a facility designed specifically for middle school boys.

Excited to break ground on our new Aerie Campus! 🎉🏗️

Today marks the start of something big for Field School and for Charlottesville-area families. Our future 22-acre home on Barracks Road will bring our all-boys, character-driven educational experience within reach of more boys across the region. The new campus will feature classrooms that open to the outdoors, fields, trails, ropes courses, a pond, and other spaces designed around how boys learn best.

This $15M investment is about much more than buildings. It's about giving more boys, regardless of zip code, the chance to walk through our doors and experience the joy of coming to school each day - to be challenged, encouraged, and known.
