A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out for our Fall Community Workday! We got SO much done, including trimming brambles, mulching play areas, hanging new swings, setting up new play equipment, tidying garden beds, making new paths, reinforcing our existing stick fort AND constructing a whole new stick fort!! We drank hot chocolate, ate pie and made merry. I am beyond grateful for all our helpers on this special day!! Our next Community Workday will be in the spring, date TBD. 💖💖💖

Imagine if kindergarten were actually built for children.

More movement. More play. More joy.
Fewer delays. Fewer referrals. Fewer “behavior issues.”

Brains would wire the way they’re meant to.
Teachers could breathe again.
Children would love school instead of surviving it.

It’s not radical. It’s developmentally appropriate.

We don’t need to invent a new solution. We just need to return kindergarten to what worked, before we complicated it into something it was never meant to be.

I'm feeling delighted by the fall play environments I have been setting up lately. (And grateful for the help I had in resetting the space yesterday.) Can't wait to see how the children interact with these provocations. 🥰

Yes!! At Robin's Nest, we prioritize uninterrupted blocks of time for FREE PLAY aka True Play. During these times, learning, connections, and discoveries abound in a far richer, more complex and concentrated fashion than any adult led, structured activity possibly could provide. (There are valuable use cases for those activities as well, but not at the expense of rich, messy, magical TRUE PLAY.) ✨🌱
