Solon Awards Day is always filled with special memories and meaningful traditions. The celebration begins with each fifth-grade student's name being read aloud by their classroom teacher as they take their place on the gym floor, facing the younger students who look up to them. It is a proud moment that recognizes their accomplishments and leadership throughout their elementary school years.
Throughout the ceremony, each grade level had the opportunity to present awards, along with recognition from our specials teachers, celebrating the hard work, growth, and achievements of Solon students these past 180 days.
The ceremony concluded with a bittersweet moment as Mrs. Merrill wished Mrs. Filkins the very best in her next adventure. After years of dedication in the classroom, Mrs. Filkins is beginning an exciting new chapter in her life. While she will be greatly missed, we are grateful for the impact she has had on so many students and families. Best of luck, Mrs. Filkins! Solon was so fortunate to have had you,

The Solon Talent Show was packed with creativity, confidence, and incredible performances from start to finish! The show was kicked off by kindergarten students signing the Pledge of Allegiance and another student sang the National Anthem. WOW.
Students wowed the audience with their talents, including beautiful piano melodies to energetic dance routines, gymasts showing off their strengths, dancers showcased their hard work, and the beautiful voices who sang.
Each performance reminded us that talent comes in many forms and that every student has something special to share. We are so proud of every performer who stepped out of their comfort zone and shared their talents. The smiles, applause, and excitement throughout the entire event made it a truly unforgettable experience. WAY TO GO LITTLE STINGERS!

All the feels of Mrs. Merrill's final grilling of the BURGER BASH.
Imagine being a principal for 25 years and celebrating 25 Burger Bashes… a tradition YOU started. You can do the math, that’s an impressive 14,000+ burgers grilled while proudly wearing the famous “Principal Grill Master” apron!
Mrs. Merrill started Burger Bash 25 years ago, and to this day the tradition continues. From flipping burgers to flipping ordinary school days into unforgettable memories, this tradition became so much more than lunch, it became part of the heart of Solon. Thank you to our PTO for providing burgers to not only our students, but staff.
We love you and will miss you SO much, “Principal Grill Master!”

One of the best parts of the last week of school? FIELD DAY!!!!
A HUGE THANK YOU to Mrs. Todd for planning a day full of fun, laughter, teamwork, and memories our students will never forget! By the end of the day, the level of exhaustion on everyone’s faces proved it was a complete success!
THANK YOU to our amazing parent volunteers, too. From keeping the music going, to helping run stations, to cheering students on all day long…we truly couldn’t have done it without you!
What a special way for our fifth graders to celebrate the end of their elementary school journey, surrounded by friends, laughter, and the moments that make these years unforgettable.

First graders in Mrs. Burford’s class are making memories as the ABC Countdown to the last day of school continues! They celebrated the letter P with Puzzle Day! Students had a blast working together to build puzzles of all kinds while practicing teamwork, problem-solving, and patience.
Puzzle Day was extra special because it reminded us that, just like the pieces of a puzzle, each student is an important part of our classroom family.

To kick off retirement shenanigans, 54 photographs were hidden throughout the hallways of Solon today for students to discover during the “Mrs. Merrill Seek-and-Find!” As students found each photograph, it was added to commemorative posters celebrating Mrs. Merrill’s incredible 25 years as Solon’s cherished principal.
The posters captured countless memories through the years including reading to students, holiday festivities, corralling squirrels, the Blue Ribbon Celebration, serving as the “Principal Burger Master,” unforgettable Halloween costumes, and so many more special moments that have made Mrs. Merrill such an important part of the Solon family.
We will TRULY miss you and you have left the BIGGEST shoes to fill. 🖤💛🖤💛
