Mrs. Fricke’s Fourth grade class put their five senses to work! As part of their CKLA Personal Narratives unit, students got to try guava and become sensory detectives!

They used their senses to describe everything they noticed—from the look and texture to the smell and flavor. Their creative descriptions were absolutely guava-nificent!

Mrs. Rivera was so proud of our third grade classes for setting a fantastic example in the lunchroom!

Second grade took their learning outside the classroom with a walking field trip around historic Crown Point!

After learning about the history of Crown Point in Social Studies, students had the opportunity to see some of that history come to life as they visited the Mayor’s Office and the Historic Crown Point Jail. They even got to participate in a mock City Council meeting, where students asked the mayor questions over the microphone!

Students wrapped up the adventure with a picnic lunch. What a fun day of exploring, asking questions, and making memories right here in our own community!

Attention all 4th and 5th grade super spellers: join the 2026 Spell Bowl Team! Miss Leslie and Mrs. Hummel are looking for the newest members of this year’s Spell Bowl team. Permission slips came home last week, but extras are available with all 4th and 5th grade teachers. The due date to return permission slips has been extended to this Thursday, September 10th. Nothing makes a specials teacher happier than being able to hand out a “Super Student” ticket for being an amazing first-time listener!

Mrs. Heridia was so excited to give these three 2nd Grade students from Mrs. Corsey’s class their very first “Super Student” tickets!

Every single one of our students is SO much more than a test score, but we must share with you and celebrate that our third graders and our elementary teachers and support staff reached 95.9% PERCENT PASSING on the recent IREAD test. This is a major accomplishment. It placed us #1 in Lake County, and #3 in the STATE among the largest districts who have more than 600 third graders. 80% of our second grade students passed the test an entire year early.
