Incredibly thankful for the Crown Point Lions Club and their annual donation of backpacks and school supplies. Each year, these backpacks are discreetly distributed to our students experiencing homelessness, foster placements, or other temporary displacements from their usual home environment. When students have so much going in their lives outside of school, we are grateful for partnerships like this one where our support teams can provide resources to make the school day a place of love and care. Thank you, Lions Club!!

First graders at Jerry Ross celebrated their love of literature with Fairy Tale Olympics! Through games and activities, they reviewed the themes, components, and interpretations of common fairy tales. Being able to identify these items early in their reading provides an important foundation for future literacy. That foundation pays off - CPCSC's IREAD scores are the highest of all public schools in Lake County!

CPHS Latin students took their talents to the national stage this summer! Thirteen Crown Point High School students attended the 73rd annual National Junior Classical League Convention at Indiana University, joining approximately 1,100 students, teachers and chaperones from across the country.

Our Bulldogs brought home an impressive list of honors in academics, art, performance and athletics, including first-place finishes for Addison Kerkes in Dramatic Interpretation and Rogan Teller in Discus. Several CPHS students also represented Indiana in the national Certamen competition.

The Crown Point Latin Club earned national recognition, too, placing 1st in Miscellaneous Publicity, 2nd for Overall Club of the Month and earning top-10 finishes for its scrapbook, social media, publication and programs and activities.

Teacher Jeremy Walker also received the Mildred Sterling Award, recognizing his longtime dedication and service to the National Junior Classical League.

Congratulations to our CPHS Latin students and Mr. Walker on an outstanding showing at nationals!

Second graders at Timothy Ball celebrated their Fairy Tales and Tall Tales literacy unit with a pancake breakfast! Through classic fairy tales and American tall tales, students are learning how to recognize themes, understand characters and their challenges, identify lessons, and compare the elements that make different genres unique. This intentional literacy instruction builds more than reading skills. It teaches students to think deeply about what they read, make connections, and understand how stories communicate ideas.

Are you ready for some football? Mrs. Cosme is! Today, the Chicago Bears stopped by to surprise Mrs. Cosme with some exciting news: she was selected as one of the Bears’ Classroom Legends this season! As part of the honor, Mrs. Cosme received two tickets to a Monday Night Football game and $1,000 for her classroom. Thank you to the Chicago Bears for recognizing the incredible impact Mrs. Cosme makes on our students and school community every day.
