We're delighted to announce the launch of our very own Dyslexia Screening Test.

The Reading Guru's Dyslexia Screening Test is a free, short test your child can take at home to check for early signs of dyslexia and other reading difficulties. You read prompts aloud to your child, mark whether their answers are correct, and at the end you get a plain-language report on how they did — along with a sense of whether they might need more help.

Our screening test is built on the same Orton-Gillingham principles our tutors use in real lessons every day with students. You can use your phone or a computer to take the test.

We hope it's helpful, and feel free to contact us with any questions.

This free, 5–10 minute dyslexia test from The Reading Guru will screen your child for dyslexia and other reading difficulties. At the end, you'll get a detailed report about your child's reading ability, reading level, and risk of dyslexia.

We finalized our data a few months ago, but never posted it here: the full results of The Reading Guru 2026 National Reading Tutoring Cost Study.

Key findings from the study include:

The average cost nationally for a 60-minute session with a Science of Reading / Orton-Gillingham tutor is now $113.06.

Since 2024, the average cost of Science of Reading / Orton-Gillingham tutoring has increased by 4.6% percent.

For a typical 9-month course of tutoring, once per week, that amounts to an average cost nationally of $4,409!
