🐝 Hands-On Science in 3rd Grade! 🐝

Our 3rd graders investigated force and movement with a hands-on Play-Doh activity! By pushing, pulling, stretching, and molding the Play-Doh, students discovered that a force is a push or a pull that can make an object move or change its shape. 💪🧪

They observed that pushing flattened and widened the Play-Doh, while pulling stretched it into a longer shape. Students also discovered that a stronger push or pull caused a bigger change in the Play-Doh’s shape or movement.

Science comes to life when students can explore, experiment, and learn by doing! 💛✨

🧪💦 Making Predictions & Testing Matter in 4th Grade! 🔬

Our 4th graders put their science skills to work with a hands-on experiment! Students made predictions and hypotheses about what would happen when different objects were placed in water. Then they tested their ideas, observed whether the objects would float, sink, or cause the water level to rise, and collected data from their results.

As they continue learning about **matter—solids, liquids, and gases—**activities like this give students the opportunity to observe, question, test, and discover for themselves. 💧🔍

Some skills that are learned and developed in preschool are skills that are carried over for the rest of a student's life. Today prek zoned in on name recognition and fine motor usage. The students used their fine motor skills by piecing tiny bits of construction paper onto the letters of their name. Fine motor skills are what enable students to write paragraphs and letters. We strengthen the muscles needed for that with fun and creative activities such as this one.

Due to the generosity of some friends and supporters of NCS we were able to purchase 3 brand new basketball goals for our playground. They look awesome and the kids were excited to get out there and start shooting. A big thank you to some of our dads and high school boys who did all of the work removing the old goals and setting up the new ones. ⛵️📚 History Came to Life in 3rd Grade! 📚⛵️

Our 3rd graders have been learning about some of the ships that made famous voyages across the Atlantic to the New World! We’ve studied Christopher Columbus and the Niña, Pinta, and Santa María, as well as the Susan Constant, Godspeed, and Discovery, which carried the Jamestown settlers to Virginia.

To bring our history lessons to life, students worked in groups of two or three to create their own torn-paper ships! ✂️🖍️ Instead of cutting the construction paper, they tore pieces by hand and carefully arranged and glued them onto a blue background to form one of the ships we’ve been studying.

This activity was a fun way to combine history, creativity, and teamwork as our students turned what they’ve been learning into works of art! 🌊⛵️

🌎✨ Learning God’s Word & His Wonderful Creation! ✨🌎

Our Pre-K 4 students had a wonderful week of learning! 💛 They worked hard to memorize their Scripture Verse of the Week and were excited to receive a special reward for their accomplishment! 📖⭐

They also learned about God’s amazing creation and made their very own creation spinners to help them remember what God created. 🌞🌙🌿🐠🐦🐾

We are so proud of these little learners for hiding God’s Word in their hearts while discovering the beauty of His creation! 🐝💛

🐝🔬 Science in Action! 🔬🐝

Our 3rd graders had a blast putting science into action with a little friendly competition! 💨

Students worked in teams to race a pom-pom across the finish line using only air blown through a straw. Along the way, they learned that a pom-pom sitting still represents waiting energy, while a pom-pom in motion represents working energy. They also discovered how wind energy can make an object move!

There was plenty of learning, teamwork, cheering, and laughter as our young scientists raced to the finish! 🏁

Who knew a pom-pom and a straw could make science so much fun? 🐝💛
