The Dumbbell Nebula, also known as M27 or the Apple Core Nebula, is located about 1300+ Light Years out near the southerly end of the constellation Cygnus. It is the remnants of a red giant star that shed its outer layer at the end of its life and collapsed into a white dwarf which appears as a small white star near the center of the nebula.
Imaged at 3 Rivers Ranch by Texas Tech University System volunteer Chris Babin over the July and August public Star Party weekends using his personal CDK 12.5 telescope using Ha, Oiii, L & RGB filters.
