EAST Sailing Academy The EAST Sailing Academy is a sailing camp that introduces children and teens to small boat sailing Groups are formed by age and sailing experience.

The EAST Sailing Academy introduces children and teens to small boat sailing and racing. Young sailors learn in three groups:

Mariners
Explorers
Voyagers

The program is taught aboard a fleet of over twenty vessels ranging in size from 13 – 24 feet. Beginner and experienced sailors have fun and are challenged through skill advancement in the EAST Sailing Academy Log Book. Day trips, water fights,

Pizza Day, fun awards and sailing games are always in the forecast at Croton Sailing School’s EAST Sailing Academy! The student to instructor ratio of the sailing school is a maximum of six students per instructor. EAST Sailing Academy students are aged 9-15, and students can begin to sail at any age. Each group is assigned its own instructor(s) to provide consistency and personal attention. Top Gun Program: Each week the best sailors are selected from each group to participate in spirited regattas (racing) aboard the East Sailing Academy’s fleet of 420’s. Youth Program Fleet: Primary instruction is provided aboard 420’s, 15’ Cape Cod Mercury’s, and 24’ Rainbows. The EAST Sailing Academy is unique in its ability to offer both small and large boat experience. Safety: Program participants are required to wear a Personal Flotation Device (PFD) at all times while on the docks or on board the boats. Instructors are trained in sailing safety and safe sailing practices are stressed at all times.

⚓ Welcome to the Salty Dog Family! ⚓

Becoming a Salty Dog is more than a title, it is a rank earned in the East Sailing Academy log book through many summers of dedication, growth, and commitment to sailing.

This prestigious rank is not achieved in one week. It represents multiple summers of learning, leadership, and a true passion for being on the water.

During our awards ceremony last week, Emmet and Charlie were officially inducted into the Salty Dog family by Waterfront Director Jason, who is also a proud Salty Dog.

To complete the tradition, the newest Salty Dogs endured the famous buckets of water! A little splash, a lot of laughs, and the perfect way to celebrate earning this well deserved rank.

⛵️ Instructor Spotlight!

Meet Senior Instructor Stella! 🌟

Stella is heading to Vanderbilt University this fall, where she’ll be double majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Cognitive Studies. We can’t wait to see all the amazing things she’ll accomplish!

Stella’s sailing journey began right here at East Sailing Academy when she was just 10 years old as a proud member of the Mariners. It’s been incredible to watch her grow from camper to counselor!

🏴‍☠️ Session 3 wrapped up with an EPIC Pirate Day! ⛵️

Pirate Day at EAST Sailing Academy is one of our favorite traditions and it never disappoints!

Sketchy Beard and Jolly-Jo “stole” a small boat from the beach and paddled away while shouting pirate insults. Then they hoisted their sails and made their escape! 🏴‍☠️

Our campers and counselors weren’t about to let them get away. Armed with water blasters and plenty of pirate spirit, they launched their own sailboats on a mission to chase down the pirates and reclaim the stolen vessel! 🌊💥

The adventure didn’t end there! Campers put their navigation skills to the test during a scavenger hunt that led them to buried treasure… a chest full of candy! 🍬🗺️

What a way to celebrate an incredible session filled with sailing, teamwork, adventure, and unforgettable memories.

Thank you to all of our Session 3 sailors for making this week one to remember. We hope you had an amazing time!
