English Tutoring with Mr. Ulaj Hello! I'm a NY State certified English teacher with 12+ years of teaching experience spanning elementary, middle, high school, and college settings.

I offer both in-person and flexible virtual tutoring sessions in Westchester, NY, and nearby areas. I am a dedicated and passionate NY State certified English teacher. Literature and writing have been the two great passions of my life; my love for them ultimately drove me to the doorsteps of pedagogy, and I believe that I bring to my teaching that same passion which I feel for them, for in my 12+

years of teaching English, including elementary, middle, high school, and college settings, I have learned that it is crucial for teachers to love the subject they teach, for that passion, that enthusiasm, that love moves and inspires students. Consequently, my career goal has always been to inspire my students to love and appreciate the written word and to empower them to become confident communicators and critical thinkers and thus use language and literacy effectively in their own lives. That's why I love teaching and that's why I am here. I began my teaching journey in college as a writing consultant; after my master’s degree, I taught at the elementary level, then transitioned to middle school, and I have spent the past decade teaching at the high school level. I love the written word, for I believe that when carefully and critically explored, it leads to knowledge, which is, as Helen Keller puts it, “love and light and vision.” When I am not teaching or tutoring, I read and write, and some of my professional interests include fiction & historical writing, poetry, translation, and research.
