Our DKG Crossville Chapter is pleased to announce this year's scholarship opportunity. Please see the information below and share with any eligible applicants.

Congratulations to Beta Lambda member Jennifer Magnuson who recently received DKG’s International $10,000 continuing education scholarship. Additionally, Mrs. Magnuson received a Tennessee DKG and local chapter scholarship. Mrs. Magnuson is the principal at North Cumberland Elementary and she is pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership. Our chapter wishes Mrs. Magnuson the best on her educational endeavors!! Beta Lambda welcomed two new members to the chapter this week. Pictured left to right are new members Debra Stout, Sharron Miller, and President Bridgette Cox. Both ladies received membership nominations because of their student dedication and numerous years of service to education.

Chapter members Dr. Tammy Stewart, Heather Whittenburg, and Dr. Krystal Kennedy recently attended the 2019 Legislative Symposium. Events included a panel of senators and representatives who discussed current legislation, keynote speaker Commissioner of Education Dr. Penny Schwinn, individual meetings with local representatives, and attending legislative sessions. Attendees were encouraged to continue working with legislators and to let constituents know that representatives need to hear from you!

Our chapter is now accepting applications for the 2019 Beta Lambda Educator Scholarship. A $500-$1,000 scholarship will be awarded. This scholarship is for Upper Cumberland junior and senior level teaching candidates. Local teachers seeking advanced degrees are also encouraged to apply. Applications are due March 11th. Our Teachers Helping Teachers silent auction is going strong. Items will be available for bidding now until December 14th at Central Services. Items are listed below each picture. The last picture includes a more specific description of each item. Please stop by, bid, and help support our Teachers Helping Teachers scholarship fund.

Several members enjoyed their time at the 2018 Xi State Convention located at Sewanee: The University of the South over the weekend. Our chapter partnered with Beta Mu to provide Awards Banquet table decorations (a few are pictured), we relaxed to classics and jammed to pop music in the famous Ralston Listening room, and we sold shirts as part of of scholarship fundraiser. As always, it was a treat seeing our friends from across the state! Special thanks to Dr. Tammy Stewart, Ashlee Ritzko, Heather Whittenburg, and Dr. Krystal Kennedy for their work on the center pieces and fundraising items.

Our Schermer pecans have arrived! Members will be selling the 12oz bags of Mammoth halves for $9 per bag. These are fresh from the crop! We also have a small amount of specialty pecans available in chocolate covered and caramel clusters for $10 per bag. All proceeds will fund our annual Beta Lambda future teacher scholarship.

Special thanks to Jennie Wright, area DCS representative, for sharing information about our local social services and resources at tonight’s meeting! Our community is lucky to have such dedicated individuals serving our children and families.

Mr. Dan Schlafer presented on federal programs at tonight's Beta Lambda meeting. Thanks to Mr. Schlafer for an informative session on the many intricate and behind the scenes programs offered to our students!

Our chapter held it's second annual Coffee and Conversation tonight at Grinderhouse. Thanks to Director of Schools, Mrs. Janet Graham, and Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Rebecca Wood, for speaking about Cumberland Co. Schools. Also special thanks to Grinderhouse for the wonderful food/drinks and hospitality! Pictured below are members who were in attendance tonight.
