After learning about childcare centers this week, our Early Childhood Education Careers I students put their knowledge into action by designing their very own early learning spaces!

Students thoughtfully planned their environments, selecting furniture, manipulatives, and learning materials to create spaces that are engaging, developmentally appropriate, and inviting for young children.

A special thank you to Lakeshore Learning for meeting with us today and helping our future early childhood educators see just how important the learning environment can be!

Mrs. Eaton’s Teaching as a Profession and Early Childhood Education students honored Dolly Parton by exploring the importance of early childhood literacy and the powerful role educators play in building a love of reading from an early age.

Students learned about Dolly Parton’s incredible work through the Imagination Library and discussed ways future educators can support early literacy, encourage a love of books, and help ensure that every child has access to quality literature. ❤️📖

What better way to celebrate literacy than by learning from someone who has made it her mission to put books in the hands of children around the world?

Who better to share insights on school administration than a member of our very own admin team?! 💙💛

Mrs. Buck stopped by class today to give our students an inside look at the role of school administration. Students learned about the hiring process, the qualities administrators look for in educators, and how teacher evaluations help support excellence in the classroom.

After watching a professional development session on the importance of play designed for practicing educators, students experienced firsthand the same loose-parts training used in real-world classrooms.

As they manipulated and arranged the materials themselves, they analyzed the activity through a dual lens, experiencing the joy of open-ended play as learners while evaluating its developmental value and facilitation strategies as future teachers.

ECEC 1. 6.1 Developmentally Appropriate Practices: Analyze relevant documents to explain how the principles serve as the foundation for implementing developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) that promote young children’s optimal learning.

Tomorrow, we’ll dive into breaking down lesson plans as we prepare for their upcoming placements in local elementary schools! 🍎✏️
