The CCS PTO is excited to once again provide school supplies for our in-person students for the upcoming school year!

School supplies will be available for $20 per student, with payment accepted at the PTO table during Open House.

Families will still need to provide a backpack, water bottle, gym shoes, and extra clothes in a labeled Ziploc bag.

Pre-K students need a blanket in addition to those items.

If you have any questions about school supplies, please contact the CCS PTO at [email protected].

CCS is excited to share that Monique VonEnde will lead the district’s Online K–8 School as principal, beginning immediately, as part of a new leadership structure approved by the Board of Education on Monday, July 27.

VonEnde has served CCS students and families since 2020, when she joined the district as a language arts teacher and learning coach. She later moved into administration and has most recently served as assistant principal of the Online K–12 program. Throughout her time at CCS, she has become an integral part of the school community, supporting students, families and staff while helping shape the continued growth of the district’s online program.

VonEnde brings 25 years of professional experience spanning education, social work, mediation and advocacy for children involved in the court system. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Teaching Language Arts and Communication from the University of Minnesota Duluth and a master’s degree in Family Education from Concordia University, St. Paul. She is currently completing an Education Specialist degree and principal licensure program.

This leadership transition is part of a broader restructuring intended to strengthen oversight and support across CCS’s expanding online schools. What began as a smaller program now serves hundreds of students across Minnesota, with enrollment growing from 352 students at the beginning of the 2025–26 school year to 450 by year’s end. VonEnde will oversee grades K–8, while Rose Bierce will continue serving as principal for grades 9–12. Previously, Bierce led the full Online K–12 program.

“Mrs. VonEnde has demonstrated a deep commitment to our students, families and staff throughout her time at CCS,” said Dr. Jenna Leadbetter, superintendent of Crosslake Community Schools. “She understands the unique needs of online learners and brings valuable experience as both an educator and school leader. This expanded leadership structure will allow us to provide more focused support at each grade level while preserving the strong sense of connection that defines CCS.”

VonEnde and Bierce are working closely to ensure a smooth transition and continued support for students, families and staff as the new school year begins.

Crosslake Community Schools is pleased to share that Daniel Fischer has been selected to serve as principal of our in-person school and will begin on Monday, July 20.

Mr. Fischer is a licensed K–12 principal with fourteen years of experience in school counseling and educational leadership. He has led elementary and middle schools across central Minnesota and brings experience in instructional leadership, student support, literacy, special education and school culture. Before moving into administration, he spent ten years as a school counselor at Forestview Middle School and Brainerd High School.

His selection followed a comprehensive, staff-led hiring process. More than twenty employees from across both of our schools participated in multiple rounds of interviews, with each candidate evaluated using the same criteria. The panel’s recommendation to hire Mr. Fischer was unanimous.

“Mr. Fischer stood out for his ability to listen closely, ask meaningful questions and connect with people across our schools. Throughout the process, he demonstrated a clear commitment to supporting students and staff while honoring what makes CCS unique. I’m so grateful for the care and insight our staff brought to this search, and we are excited to welcome Mr. Fischer and his family into our community,” said Dr. Jenna Leadbetter, superintendent of Crosslake Community Schools.

In the coming days, Mr. Fischer will begin connecting with staff, families and community members as he prepares to lead our in-person school. Families will hear more from him soon, and there will be opportunities to meet him and welcome him into the CCS community.
