We read great books and spiritual classics to encourage personal growth, friendship, and meaningful conversations in order to explore the human condition and re-orient ourselves to what is good, beautiful, and true. Seeing that women are helped in their own education when they are accompanied, Marcie Stokman founded The Well-Read Mom, a reading club that provides an easily duplicable way for women

to accompany one another to read more, read well. Each book selection centers around the year’s theme and is meant to work with the rhythm of a woman’s busy life.

We're asked all the time, “Do I have to be a mother to join?” The answer is a loud “no!”
Well-Read Mom understands motherhood in the broadest possible sense - the generative capacity of all women to bring life to the world. The Well-Read Mom name reflects our origin, as an answer to the question, “Isn’t there a place after college where women can discuss the big questions of life?” We welcome women from all walks of life, regardless of whether or not they have biological children of their own. This year, Year of the Woman, is the perfect year to join if you have thought about it previously but were unsure if you fit - you do fit. 🤍

The Year of the Teacher taught us all, individually and collectively. We loved hearing your reflections, what stood out to you, and seeing your themed food to go along with the books. The survey results are in!

WRM Kathy Magnell's granddaughter is already well on her way to becoming a future Well-Read Mom member! 🙌🏼
The younger generation is so important to WRM and that's part of the reason we created the Family Supplement that is in every Companion. When we get to discuss the same subjects and themes with the youth in our lives, it enriches our experience as well as theirs. Rediscovering what it means to be a woman goes far beyond a one-size-fits-all description or simply defining ourselves by the many roles we have.
