Well-Read Mom www.wellreadmom.com. The Well-Read Mom provides guidance, a template for group leaders to follow, and audio resources.

We read great books and spiritual classics to encourage personal growth, friendship, and meaningful conversations in order to explore the human condition and re-orient ourselves to what is good, beautiful, and true. Seeing that women are helped in their own education when they are accompanied, Marcie Stokman founded The Well-Read Mom, a reading club that provides an easily duplicable way for women to accompany one another to read more, read well. Each book selection centers around the year’s theme and is meant to work with the rhythm of a woman’s busy life.

As we reflect on the 15 years of Well-Read Mom, we are so grateful for each of you. This Well-Read Mom community began - and continues to grow- through each of your individual "yeses". Together, our "yeses" have become something beautiful: a community of women committed to accompanying one another in caring for the heart through literature and meaningful conversation. Together, we celebrate these 15 years and look forward to what the next 15 years will bring. Read more. Read well.

September has been filled with first meetings and we have loved seeing your photos! What stood out in your group discussion?
After reading question five in the Companion, one woman in our group shared “Satan lies and tells us we can’t be community with each other or we need to white knuckle it. We don’t need to muscle through, we just need to rest in Him, and choose to lean on each other.”

May this be one of the many things we are all shown this year. 🤍

Maybe it’s to finish half of the books, maybe it’s to read part of every single book on the list, or maybe it’s to finish all of them! Whatever your goal is, you have to remember the one rule of a Well-Read Mom meeting — never apologize for not finishing the book, and don’t let it stop you from coming to a meeting. We received a beautiful note, and beautiful things deserve to be shared.
WRM member Emily V. Pope writes:
“Fun overlap with Well-Read Mom’s 15 year birthday. This year I turned 30! To celebrate my birthday, I decided to write notes to the people who helped shape my 20s. When reflecting on this chapter of my life, I found a stark change began a few years ago, when I joined WRM.
I joined because I was moving to a new city and was able to connect with a group here immediately. I went from hardly finishing one book per year to having read 25 books in the first six months of this year (good books - I promise!).
You have completely reframed my mindset on reading, and I will never be the same. Thank you for the work that you do, and know that it does not go unnoticed. I can’t wait to see how you shape my 30s!”

Emily, this note meant the world to us. May this next decade be one of blessings and joy, and full of good books. 🤍

When Well-Read Mom began, we desired to create a place for women not to escape from family life and work, but to experience a kind of leisure through friendship and literature so that women could return to their lives with a renewed vision and vigor. By reading books together, we help sustain a tradition of reading, which is a gift not only to our families but to the world.
