The early education specialists working at Northwest Children’s Center are all degree-holding teachers with a demonstrated passion for working with kids. They oversee structured learning that allows children to engage in everything from music to art. By taking part in these activities, kids develop linguistic and social skills, building their confidence from one day to the next. First built as the Northwest School in 1911, Northwest Children’s Center was renovated and transformed into a comprehensive children’s center in 1983. Since then, it has built a reputation for its engaging approach to early education. Call (860) 635-3485 to discuss enrolling your child and setting up an introductory visit.

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Susan Blaskey on her 40th year of teaching at Northwest. “Miss Blaskey” has dedicated herself to her Butterfly Bunch students and families as well as our Northwest community as a whole. She continues to stay busy gardening, baking, taking long walks, hanging out at the beach, and spending lots of time with family. Please take a moment to congratulate Miss Blaskey on an incredible, on-going career. 🦋

The Butterfly Bunch and their families have been working hard, learning about all 26 letters of the alphabet and their individual sounds. Our class alphabet project was a great success. Each child and their family designed one letter for our classroom alphabet line. Enjoy!

From math and reading activities to observation and writing exercises, the students engaged in worm-inspired learning, even enjoying a themed snack of worms and dirt! It is remarkable how much can be discovered when education follows natural curiosity. 🪱
