Hooray! Mark your calendars; the Book Fair is coming! Our Fall Book Fair will begin on October 12th and will run (at least) through the week of October 17-21. We will have a more definite ending date as we get closer to pick up, but the fair will run as long as possible!

Our hours will be: Mondays-Thursdays: 8:00-5:00, Fridays: 8:00-2:45 and we will be open from 8:00 AM-7:30 PM on Friday, October 14th, the day of Fall Carnival!

Look for more information here, on our Library Remind and coming home with your student. Happy Reading!

Our Birthday Book Club has begun!

This school year, every child at Crewe Primary School will get a book of their choice in celebration of their birthday!

We have a wide selection of books to choose from, some received through grants, others that were donated, but all wonderful titles for our kiddos to add to their home library!

On or around their birthday, students will get to come to the library to choose from the various books. A special sticker will be placed inside with their name on it and their photo will be taken (as permitted). These books will be theirs to keep and enjoy as a reminder of how happy we are to celebrate their special day!

Mrs. Nelson is working now to catch up on our birthdays since the beginning of the year. If your Bobcat has a birthday when we are out for summer, we'll recognize those closer to the end of the school year.

Happy Birthday and Happy Reading!

*Donations to our Birthday Book Club and/or library collection are always welcome!

This week in our library we discussed Hispanic Heritage Month! National Hispanic Heritage Month is annually celebrated from September 15 to October 15 in the United States for recognizing the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans to the history, culture, and achievements of the United States.

Our conversation included an introduction to food, music, geography, and famous people. Some of the stories we shared from our library collection were award-winning titles such as, "Evelyn Del Rey is Moving Away" and "My Papi Has a Motorcycle", both of which have Hispanic authors and illustrators. These are wonderful stories to share year-round, but especially during this special holiday.

52% of our classes had all of their books turned in on time this week! Congratulations to these classes of Library Leaders: Ms. Eubanks, Mrs. Garnett, Ms. McMillian, Miss Gil, Mrs. Abernathy, and the ENTIRE Second Grade (Mrs. Ragland, Mrs. Miles, Mrs. Dalton, and Mrs. Badger)!

This week we also started our Birthday Book Club, so be on the lookout for another post with details about that exciting program!

Have a wonderful week and Happy Reading!

What a great week we had in the library!

Our PK-2nd graders talked about feelings and how we can express them when we read, "Don't Hug Doug (He Doesn't Like It) by Carrie Finison.

Third and Fourth graders continued on to the next chapter of "Dragons in a Bag" by Zetta Elliott. After our main character, Jaxson is left alone with a mysterious package, they used their predicting skills to share what they think will happen in next week's chapter.

89% of our classes had all of their books turned in on time this week! Congratulations to these Library Leaders!

One of our newest Bobcats, Dominic from Mrs. Ragland's class, donated Beanie Babies for our readers to use as Book Buddies! If you have any Beanie Babies (or similar) that you would like to donate, please feel free to send them in! Thank you, Dominic!

Have a wonderful week and Happy Reading!

Do you remember the Beanie Baby craze? I sure do! Do you happen to have a pile of them somewhere just collecting dust? Yep, me too!

It's still possible that you could sell them and make a fortune, but if you'd like to do something even BETTER with them, please consider donating some to our library Book Buddies program. These buddies will be used in our library as a companion to students while they are reading. What a great way to provide comfort and promote confidence!

Buddies can be delivered to Crewe Primary School during regular school hours. Please contact Mrs. Nelson at any time with questions!

Thank you for helping to grow the love of reading in our students!

A new year means some new plants in our library! 🪴

Meet this year’s additions! Luna (in the yellow pot) is Mrs. Nelson’s favorite character from Harry Potter. Slytherin, Draco, Snape and Bellatrix (in the white pot) are all snake plants! 🐍🐍🐍

Last years plants are doing really well too (which is surprising since Mrs. Nelson doesn’t have a very green thumb)! In the pink pot is Charlotte and in the green pot is Wilbur, both characters from Charlotte’s Web!

Here’s to a great year of watching our plants, and our students, GROW!

All of our students that return their library books by the last day of school are eligible for a prize from the library and one winner is chosen from each class to pick a poster!

Currently, we have two classes with all of their library books returned; CONGRATULATIONS to Ms. Eubanks’s and Ms. Dempsey’s classes!
