Congratulations to all the students who performed on yesterday's duet recital. We enjoyed hearing The Beatles, Star Wars, Frozen, Simon & Garfunkel, Lauren Daigle, Strauss, Wagner, Studio Ghibli, and so much more!
Suzuki Piano of Louisville is the teaching studio of Bruce Boiney in Crestwood, KY. Instruction for students ages 3-18, beginning through advanced.
Students learn by ear at first. This allows them to develop a natural technique and appreciation for sound before learning to read music, which is then carefully taught. Students perform regularly in group classes and formal recitals. Recitals, followed by a reception, are free and open to the public. Bruce Boiney is a graduate of Shinichi Suzuki's Talent Education Institute in Matsumoto, Japan, with 25 years teaching experience.

“It’s a jeep thing, you wouldn’t understand.” One family made it out for lessons today, the rest of the day was on Zoom.

First performance classes of the year. I randomly handed out Boomwhacker tubes to one group and Elizabeth ended up getting tubes that matched her dress perfectly. Kind of made my day. The students played well and had a fun time together!
The duet recital video is done! Here is a sneak peak with a bit of each piece. The full video is on YouTube: https://youtu.be/Ek6NN1oqx68

Last night's recital, Duet for a Cause, was a big success! The music was amazing, and families donated bins full of kitchen items to Reese's Cakes for a Cause. Your donations will impact many families who can use the help. Reese, who performed with her sister, baked three delicious cakes for the reception. At the end of the recital, the studio gave away a door prize of a custom order cake to be made by Reese. Congratulations to the Brown family for winning the drawing!
Come check out our duet recital tomorrow! It will be at 6:30 on June 10, in Stem Hall, at Indiana University Southeast. Fifty students will perform duets and trios ranging from songs like The Lion Sleeps Tonight to Top Gun, and even a Dvořák Slavonic Dance. The recital is called Duet for a Cause and is a fundraiser for Reese's Cakes for a Cause, a charity founded by one of our students, Reese Anderson. Reese bakes cakes for donations and uses the proceeds to purchase kitchen items for families moving from shelters to independent living. People attending the recital are welcome to bring a kitchen item to donate, and Reese is baking cakes for the reception.

Yesterday's piano party at the Anderson family's home was a fabulous way to close out the 2021-22 studio year. Thank you to Jim and Jenn Anderson for opening your home and being such gracious hosts. 24 student performed pieces ranging from Lightly Row to a Chopin Polonaise. Families brought and shared delicious food, and everyone hung out talking and playing games. Photo credit: Jennifer Wiggins-Anderson
Merry Christmas!
