There are simply no words that can make sense of a loss like this. The sudden and unexpected loss of a husband and father leaves a void that is impossible to comprehend.

Our hearts are broken for Mrs. Ashley and her children as they navigate an unimaginable loss. As a former teacher at Locust Grove Elementary, Mrs. Ashley has touched the lives of so many students, families, and staff members. She has been an important part of our school community, and today we grieve alongside her and all who love their family.

Please join us in lifting the Ashley family up in prayer during the difficult days, weeks, and months ahead. This loss reaches far beyond their immediate family. It is felt by the many friends, neighbors, coworkers, former students, fellow parents, and community members whose lives have been touched by the Ashley family. Through their kindness, friendships, and involvement in our community, they have made a lasting impact on so many.

As we pray for strength and comfort for Mrs. Ashley and her children, let us also remember their extended family, friends, and all those who are grieving this tremendous loss. May they be surrounded by love, supported by their community, and reminded that they do not have to walk this road alone. In the days ahead, may we continue to show up for them, offer encouragement, share memories, and extend grace and support as they face the difficult journey ahead.

Today we’re feeling extra thankful for the AMAZING staff and teachers at LGE who show up every single day to support, teach, encourage, and inspire our students. 💙📚

And because we appreciate them so much… we’re looking for volunteers to help us support them all year long!

🍎 Staff Appreciation Committee
This committee helps make sure our staff feels loved all year long!
✨ Plan about one small appreciation event each month during the school day (not all day—just a quick, meaningful surprise!)
✨ Help coordinate ideas, treats, or small celebrations
✨ And then help plan a full Staff Appreciation Week at the end of the school year to go BIG on gratitude! 🎉

It’s fun, creative, and one of the most rewarding ways to give back—because happy staff = happy school. 💙

📚 Teacher Requests Committee
Did you know PTO offers each teacher up to $200 for classroom items that improve teaching or enrich student learning throughout the year? 🙌

This committee helps make it happen by:
✔ Reviewing teacher requests
✔ Sending approvals to the board
✔ Working with our secretary to order items
✔ Disbursing items to teachers

It’s a very low time commitment but has a HUGE impact in classrooms every day!

We’re looking for volunteers who are:
✨ Organized and reliable (but not perfection required!)
✨ Excited to support teachers and staff
✨ Comfortable with light coordination and communication
✨ And who love making a big difference in small, meaningful ways 💙

Summer is officially here, but PTO planning is already in motion for next year! ☀️😄

We’re excited to announce we’re looking for volunteers for TWO fun PTO committees:

🍔 Restaurant Night Committee
Love eating out AND supporting the school? This is your dream combo! This committee helps plan our monthly restaurant nights where families dine at local spots and a portion of proceeds comes right back to our school.
Translation: you get to support the school just by helping pick where we eat. Win-win-win. 🙌

👕 Spirit Wear Committee
Get ready… NEW designs are launching in July! 🎉
Help us choose styles, vote on designs, and bring fresh spirit wear options to life so our students (and parents!) can show off their school pride in style all year long.

Both of these make a BIG impact for our school with a relatively small time commitment—especially in-person/on-the-ground time. That means you can jump in, help where it counts, and still keep your summer schedule intact. 🙌

We’re looking for volunteers who are:
✨ Organized-ish (perfect is not required)
✨ Excited about community involvement
✨ Willing to share ideas and help bring them to life
✨ And okay with the fact that “just helping a little” is how committees are born 😄

The school year has officially ended… and summer has begun! ☀️📚➡️🌴

Backpacks are empty, alarms are turned off (for now), and parents everywhere are enjoying the sweet sound of no morning rush. 😄

BUT… while summer is just getting started, we’re already looking ahead to one of our most colorful community events… the COLOR RUN! 🌈🏃‍♀️

And guess what? We’re forming our Color Run Committee for NEXT YEAR!

Planning begins in October, and we’d love for YOU to be part of the fun behind the scenes!

We’re looking for volunteers to help with:

📅 Early planning & scheduling (yes, real calendars will be involved)
🗺️ Course setup & design (how do we safely create a rainbow stampede?)
🎪 Vendors & donations (a friendly “ask” goes a long way!)
🎨 Logistics from start to finish (the behind-the-scenes magic)
💥 And making event day absolutely unforgettable!

No experience needed—just energy, teamwork, and a willingness to embrace a little controlled chaos. 🌈

And if you attended last year’s Color Run… yes, we welcome suggestions and improvements. In fact, we love them!

✔️ Can decode whining from three rooms away like it’s a secret FBI language 🕵️‍♀️
✔️ Have threatened to cancel screen time approximately 87 times this week 📱😂
✔️ Are currently hiding in the pantry pretending to “look for something” for 2 minutes of peace

Honestly… you already have event management experience. 🤣👏
