House Bill (HB) 500(2026) eliminated $2.6 million in annual funding to subsidize the cost of AP exam fees for students who do not meet the eligibility requirements for free or reduced-price meals.

Update-the Board has decided to add public expression to this special called meeting. Unchanged from the past, public expression is generally not included in special called meetings but given the nature of this topic, we have decided to move forward with adding it to the agenda.

As we continue evaluating options for the FY27 property tax rate, we want to ensure our community has the opportunity to review the potential scenarios under consideration and provide feedback before any decision is made.

The options currently being discussed include:
• Compensating Rate (78.8 cents) – Estimated Net General Fund Revenue: $63.1 million�• Keeping the Rate Flat (81.2 cents) – Estimated Net General Fund Revenue: $65.5 million�• 4% Revenue Increase (81.9 cents) – Estimated Net General Fund Revenue: $66.2 million�• 4% Increase Plus Exonerations (82.0 cents) – Estimated Net General Fund Revenue: $66.3 million

The Oldham County Board of Education will hold a Public Hearing on Thursday, September 17, at 5:00 PM at the Arvin Education Center. Consistent with our Special Called Meetings, there will not be a public expression period during the hearing.

However, we absolutely want to hear from our community.

We encourage parents, staff, taxpayers, and community members to email Board members with their thoughts, questions, and feedback between now and September 17. Board members read every email we receive, and your input is important to our decision-making process.

Providing feedback in advance allows Board members time to carefully review comments, consider community perspectives, and make a thoughtful and informed decision on September 17.

The proposed rate would potentially go from 81.2 cents to 82 cents per $100 assessed property. This would be an annual increase of $36 on a $450,000 home.

Earlier in May of this year, I was interviewed by representatives from the OEA regarding a complaint that had been filed about my involvement with a parent organization. At the time, I had not seen the complaint, did not know who had filed it, and the investigators shared very little information to me other than to ask me pointed questions.

This morning, I received the OEA's final report and findings. I'm sharing the full report here so anyone who is interested can read it for themselves. I cooperated fully throughout the investigation, and I'm glad the process has now been completed.

For more than 10 years, while my children have attended Oldham County Schools, I've spent a lot of time volunteering with our schools and parent organizations. I'm proud of the thousands of hours I've given to help put on events, support our teachers and staff, and create opportunities for our students and families.

During the 2023-2024 school year, I couldn't find anyone willing to take over the SOMS PTO. Rather than see the organization dissolve, I stayed on and continued helping through the 2024-2025 school year. In 2025, a great group of parents stepped forward, and I was happy to turn everything over to them. I have not been involved with the SOMS PTO since June 2025.

I also understand that my role is different now that I serve on the Board of Education. Going forward, I will not serve as an officer of a PTO or PTA while I am a member of the Board.

I'm proud of the time I've spent supporting our schools, and that isn't going to change. I'll continue serving District 2 and the Oldham County community with transparency, accountability, and a focus on doing what's best for our students.

🍎 Great things are happening in Oldham County Schools! 🍎

Over the last four years, the Board of Education has made a deliberate commitment to investing in our people, strengthening recruitment and retention efforts, and ensuring our district remains a destination for exceptional educators and staff.

Today, we're seeing the results of that work.

We're proud to celebrate that Oldham County Schools leads neighboring districts in compensation, with an average salary of $50,233, demonstrating our commitment to attracting and retaining high-quality employees.

Just as importantly, our staffing trends continue to move in the right direction:
Active substitute numbers have grown from 223 to 320. ​
ECS aide openings have decreased from 22 to 11.
Full-time certified vacancies have dropped from 11 to 6.
Total job openings have decreased from 68 to 57. ​

While there is always more work ahead, these outcomes reflect years of intentional planning, strategic investment, and a commitment to making Oldham County Schools a place where great educators want to work and stay.

Thank you to our teachers, staff, administrators, and community members who have partnered with us on this journey. Together, we're building a stronger future for our students.

My girls went to Camden and I spent many hours there volunteering over those years.
