Last of the hurricane prep, these two need a switch-a-roo!

I had a ton of prep work to get my bees ready for hurricane Isaias, but I slowed down a bit here. This hive is queenless at a critical time of year right before a dangerous storm.

After the cut out, the bees need to be installed into a hive. The job isn’t done until they are safely rehomed. Today, the weather is not cooperating so this needs to be quick!

This homeowner was in the midst of a roof install when these bees were discovered. Of course, this halted construction for the safety of the roofing crew. Luckily, I was able to get out there and grab these gals!

I spent the morning relaxing on a nature walk hunting for wildlife at Turkey Creek Park in Niceville, what beautiful weather today!!

Sometimes bees will make their home on the limb of a tree instead of in a cavity. This is called an “open air hive”. The homeowner requested they be relocated to my apiary, this way the humans and the bees are safe.
