Dear Parents, we are watching the path of the oncoming hurricane very closely. We are also monitoring the Okaloosa County School district website.
As a reminder, if the Okaloosa County School district closes, we will close as well.
In the event we receive a direct hit, we will be closed until we can check for any damage to the facility, or power outages.
Please be vigilant in your monitoring of all our outlet information, this page, our DoJo and emails.
We will keep you updated! If this is your first time experiencing a hurricane in this area, we advise you to monitor local TV,Radio, and social media channels for information on what the best response should be to this storm , currently expected to be a Cat2.
Also please reach out to us on Facebook, Dojo or email
If you have any questions and we will help as much as possible.
Below are some resources:
Visit the Florida Division of Emergency Management to check your evacuation zone, and stock a disaster supply kit with at least 7 days of essentials.
Build an Emergency Supply Kit
β’ Water: Store 1 gallon of water per person per day for at least 7 days (half for drinking, half for sanitation).
β’ Food: Keep a 7-day supply of non-perishable food items and a manual can opener.
β’ Medications: Maintain a 2-week supply of critical prescription medications and a detailed medical list.
β’ Financial & Legal: Keep cash on hand, as power outages can disable ATMs and card readers, along with waterproof copies of important documents.
β’ Gear: Pack flashlights, extra batteries, a battery-powered or hand-crank NOAA weather radio, and portable USB phone chargers.
Secure Your Home
β’ Windows & Doors: Install hurricane shutters or board up glass windows with exterior-grade wood, and reinforce garage doors.
β’ Outdoor Areas: Bring inside all patio furniture, potted plants, decorations, and loose items that can become projectiles in high winds.
β’ Property Care: Trim weak tree branches and limbs near your roofline, and clean out roof gutters.
β’ Vehicles: Fill your gas tank completely when a storm threatens, or charge your electric vehicle to 80% capacity.
Know Your Zone and Plan
β’ Evacuation Zones: Check your local county emergency management maps to see if you live in a mandatory evacuation or flood zone.
β’ Generators: Position portable generators strictly outdoors and away from open doors, windows, and vents to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.
β’ Pets: Include pet food, carriers, and vaccination records in your emergency plan.
Thank you and please stay safe!
