Grateful that miraculously more lives weren’t lost.

Let’s not inherit the mentality of these people. While there may be some real merit to their gripes you need to not let them influence your attitude. At least to start.

Listen to what they’re saying and choose to be your own person.

You don’t have to hate them and I would argue that you should be friends with them. They are in fact your coworkers.

But you don’t have to be like them.

Do not voice your disdain for their work ethic or attitude.

Accept it for what it is. Keep your opinions to yourself. And focus on the kind of career you want.

I have seen so many great people just get sucked into that group and it’s over forever.

And ya know what? maybe they do in fact belong with that group. But also maybe they don’t.

Culture is real. If you don’t like the culture then don’t be apart of it just because you want to fit in.

Do your thing without frustrating your coworkers.

If everything you do frustrates your coworkers maybe you need to find new coworkers.

Your law enforcement career is going to be what you make of it.

You’re going to make mistakes. You’re going to deal with bad leadership. You’re going to get frustrated. You may realize you’re at the wrong agency. And eventually, you’re going to figure out that nobody is coming to make you great at this job.

The sooner you understand that, the better your career becomes.

Find something you care about and get great at it. Invest in yourself. Learn from your mistakes instead of letting them define you. Don’t stay somewhere you’re miserable just because leaving is uncomfortable. And learn to control your emotions when things don’t go your way.

You only get one career.

Make sure you enjoy it while you’re here.

It’s an absolute lie. Almost nobody in this profession gets any training to level that they actually need. You know it, they know it and I know it.

They won’t fix it and that’s very obvious.

We will continue to do our best to try and give you guys what you deserve. Not the box checking you were given.
