Last, but not least.....introducing our Library Director!

Hi! My name is Becca Slick and I am the Library Director. I have worked in the SWCC Library since August 2019 as the full-time Library Assistant and most recently was promoted to Director in July 2026.
I have both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree in History and am currently finishing up my Masters in Library & Information Science degree. I have two teenage children who keep me busy with school and extracurricular activities. In my spare time I love to read (who would have thought!), cook, bake, travel, and spend time with my family.
I came to work for SWCC shortly after I moved to Creston in 2015, and started in the library in 2019. I love working with the students and getting to know their stories. I have been able to be a vital part of the SWCC community whether I am assisting a student, faculty or staff member, attending athletic events, and helping out where needed. SWCC will always hold a special place in my heart.

Let's introduce our part-time library assistant, Casidy! While she is not a new face to the SWCC Library family, She has been a friendly face for over a year and a half. She has been a great addition to the library.....so here is a little info about her:

Hello there, I’m Casidy! I was born and raised in Creston, IA. I attended Southwestern Community College over a decade ago before officially completing my Associate of Arts degree through SWCC in 2026. I joined the SWCC library team because I genuinely love helping others succeed and navigate their academic journeys. Having deeply valued the library during my own time as a student, I knew it would be the perfect place to work!

When I’m not assisting students and faculty at SWCC, I also serve as a custodian at the public library. Outside of my work in the library world, I am an avid reader with a passion for dystopian fiction. Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid's Tale is my absolute favorite book. I also love taking peaceful nature walks and cherish every moment spent with my daughter.

Meet our newest member of the SWCC Library team!

Hi, I’m Cameron Hamilton, and here is a little about me. I graduated from East Union High School in 2024 and then attended Southwestern Community College, where I graduated in 2026. I now work at Southwestern Community College as an Information Services Assistant in the Library. I applied to work at SWCC because I saw it as an opportunity to grow in the I.T. field while also gaining experience working in the library. I enjoy working in the library, especially after spending so much time there as a student doing homework. It feels rewarding to now have the opportunity to help out students now that I’m an employee. Outside of work, I enjoy cooking and playing video games with my friends.
