The robohand is working very well after remolding the end of it for Riley. It fits him much better now. You can see in the video how the fingers constrict when the wrist is bent.

Here is a Link about what "Jacobsen Syndrome" is.... This should sum it up about what Riley has, http://www.healthline.com/health/jacobsen-syndrome

Jacobsen syndrome is a major inborn condition, which causes mental retardation and multiple birth defects. The syndrome occurs when genetic material is missing from chromosome 11, which can affect over 340 genes critical to the normal bodily development.

More pictures of Rileys look at the first printed hand. Kelly took these pictures. We live in amazing world that this is even possible. It is hard to believe it was only two weeks ago that we even heard of a Robohand and now here it is printed out. Believe it or not it only takes about 45 minutes for our printer to print all of the parts and another 45 minutes for the students to harden them. The final plastic hand will take considerably longer but much more durable.

After we printed the prototype we took the Robohand over to Shelby to see how it would fit. As you can see it is very similar in size to his left hand but several modifications are going to need to be made for it to fit on his right. We will print version 2.0 on Monday. I wish you could have seen Riley when he got to see the hand for the first time. He was very excited! All of his classmates hugged him and patted him on the back. This experience isn't just good for Riley, it is good for everyone.

First prototype is all printed out and infiltrated. Everything fits great. Next step is to see how it fits Riley :)

The STL files are downloaded and ready for printing. If the weather holds out we should be sending our first prototype to our 3D printer tomorrow in class. We are starting with the standard files on the internet. We will then start modifying the design. The students have lots of good ideas for changing the shape of the hand and fingers.
