Crested Butte School of Dance The School of Dance is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to professional dance instruction for people of all ages in Crested Butte.

We believe Dance is for Everyone! Crested Butte School of Dance is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization providing many opportunities to be involved in dance and the arts. We create a nurturing environment for our littlest stars and intensive instruction for serious students, making SOD the principle dance academy of Crested Butte. lective! No matter what age or level of experience, the Crested Butte School of Dance can offer a fun and creative experience. We provide a wide variety of classes from pre-ballet for toddlers to belly dancing intensives for teens and adults. CBSD has been involved in the Crested Butte theater and arts community for more than 25 years. Our staff and dancers have participated in the choreography of theatrical shows and have designed mentoring programs. CBSD has hosted Dansummer, the School’s premier summer workshop and performance for over 25 years. We offer group classes, workshops, intensives and a variety of annual performances featuring students and staff members.

With gratitude and remembrance, we are pleased to announce the creation of the Zane Mason & Linda M Sweitzer Memorial Fund.

Established through a generous initial donation, the fund honors Zane Mason and Linda M Sweitzer’s lives and commitment to the arts, and specifically Zane’s passion for aerial arts. In honor of both, the fund will provide ongoing support for the aerial programming at Crested Butte School of Dance, helping future students and artists access the aerial arts.

We invite those who knew and loved Zane and Linda, as well as anyone who shares a passion for aerial, the Crested Butte School of Dance, or access to high quality arts education in our community, to join us in growing the fund. Contributions of any size will help ensure that Zane and Linda’s impact continues for years to come.

During the month of September, we hope to raise $10,000 for this fund, which will assist the School of Dance in finding and supporting a committed aerial program educator to lead our aerial programming.
Together, we can create a lasting and meaningful tribute that reflects Zane and Linda’s commitment to the arts and the Crested Butte community.

Join us for What the Water Brings, an adult contemporary dance production honoring water as the source of life. Through movement, ritual, and collective creation, dancers will become part of a living movement ceremony — a shared offering of gratitude, hope, and prayer for the waters that sustain our valley, our planet, and ourselves.
Classes start Aug. 24 through Sept. 21 to prepare for performances on November 6 + 7.
