(Maria Montessori) While the basic learning tools are covered, the focus is not upon acquiring of skills and memorizing of facts, but of application. Joliet Montessori School was founded in 1966. Our campus has two structures, the Main Building and the Adolescent House (for the middle school students). As life is happiest with a balance of comfort and challenge, our stated Mission is "Joliet Montessori School inspires students to engage academically and socially every day, developing independence, a love of work, and a respect for all". Students are encouraged to LEARN HOW TO LEARN and LEARN HOW TO INTERACT WITH OTHERS rather than having their education imposed upon them. This will set them up for an adult life full of change, opportunity and responsibility. "Passion for Learning. Success for Life." Visitors are always welcome. Join our 6-week parenting workshop and learn tools and strategies to develop cooperative and respectful relationships with your child. Our interactive course is a life-changer. It helps to move away from permissive or punitive parenting and opens the door to a far more effective, kind AND firm approach.

90-minute sessions held every Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. on the following dates: Sept 17th, Sept. 24th, October 1st, 15th, 22nd, and 29th (no session on Oct 8th).

Location: Adolescent House, Joliet Montessori School, 1612 Root Street, Crest Hill, IL 60403, PH: (815) 741-4180. Course Cost: $99 per family (includes Positive Discipline book)

Our Upper Elementary students did a wonderful job performing Toy Store for JMS students and Catalpa Room parents, showcasing their creativity, confidence, and hard work. Our JMS Track & Field Team had an amazing time filled with hard work, encouragement, teamwork, and so much fun at both practices and the meet! A heartfelt thank you to Coach Kathleen, Assistant Coach Ms. Doughan, and all of our wonderful parent volunteers for the time, energy, and support you gave to make this experience so special for our students and families. We truly couldn’t have done it without you! 🏃‍♀️🏅❤️

In true Montessori fashion, our Upper Elementary students used real tools to help install sponsorship plaques on two JMS benches in support of the Adolescent Program re-opening. Through purposeful, hands-on work, students not only experienced the joy of contributing meaningfully to their school community, but also developed confidence and real-world skills that will support them throughout their lives.

Our students recently welcomed Erin Noon from Will County Green, who shared a wonderful lesson about milkweed and the important role it plays in supporting monarch butterflies. Students planted milkweed to help create habitats for monarchs, with some taking plants home and others helping grow our campus habitat, as JMS is an official Monarch Waystation. 🦋🌿

From the thoughtful delicious homemade baked goods and flowers to the treats, gifts, and acts of kindness, every gesture meant so much to us.
