NEW LOOK AT THE CALIFORNIA/OREGON BORDER: A brand-new welcome monument is now in place along southbound U.S. 199 at the California-Oregon border in Del Norte County. Made possible through Caltrans and Clean California, this project gives one of California’s northern gateways a stronger first impression and helps create a more welcoming public space for travelers entering the state.

We appreciate everyone who weighed in on the design via a public survey.

In the coming weeks the new monument will be officially celebrated with a ribbon cutting, and another new monument is going up soon along U.S. 101's California-Oregon border in Del Norte. Stay tuned for updates.

Clean California is Governor Gavin Newsom’s sweeping $1.2 billion, multiyear initiative led by Caltrans to clean up trash, create jobs and beautify public spaces throughout the state. Since launching in July 2021, Clean California has funded 314 beautification projects statewide, with 191 completed, while Caltrans and its partners have removed more than 3.4 million cubic yards of litter, hosted more than 650 free dump days, enlisted more than 72,000 community clean-up volunteers and created more than 18,000 jobs.
