Our morning drop-off crew knows how to have fun! From directing traffic to welcoming our students, our staff will do just about anything to help keep mornings safe, smooth, and full of smiles!

Fifth grade is practicing claims, evidence, and reasoning with "Soup, Salad, or Sandwich!" All foods must fall into one of these categories:

🍜Soup- must have a liquid base
🥗 Salad- must be a mixture of ingredients
🥪 Sandwich- must have an edible outer layer

Students are shown different foods and must make a claim (is it a soup, salad, or sandwich), cite their evidence for their claim, and explain their evidence with their reasoning. Not only does this practice argumentative writing skills, but it ties into how authors develop their arguments! This activity resulted in some great, logical debates and included out-of-the-box thinking. The most intense debate? Chips & Salsa. What do you think fits that best?

PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION FOR SCHOOL-SPONSORED EVENTS

Wakulla County Schools is reminding families that students may request approval to use private transportation for athletic events, extracurricular activities, field trips and other school-sponsored events.

The required Parental Consent and Release of Liability for Private Transportation form must be completed, submitted to school administration at least 24 hours before the event, and approved by the school principal.

Requests involving a student driving themselves or riding with another adult require notarization.

A written note or sign-out sheet alone does not meet current policy requirements.

LABOR DAY HOLIDAY | SEPTEMBER 7

In observance of Labor Day, all Wakulla County Schools and district offices will be closed Monday, September 7, 2026.

Students, faculty and staff will return on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.

We hope our students, families and employees enjoy a safe and restful Labor Day holiday, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Tuesday.

Our 3rd graders put the Engineering Design Process into action during science class! Students worked together to design and build bridges using just toothpicks and marshmallows. They planned, built, tested, and made improvements as they worked to create strong and stable structures. We love watching our students think like engineers, solve problems, and learn from their designs!

Mrs. Glassner's 3rd grade class partnered with Mrs. Perry's 1st grade class and Mrs. Powell's kindergarten class for Reading Buddies!

The older students practiced reading aloud, building confidence, and sharing their love of reading, while the younger students enjoyed listening and learning.

ALL PRO DAD IS BACK AT SHADEVILLE!

We’re excited to kick off another year of All Pro Dad at Shadeville Elementary ! All Pro Dad brings dads and father figures together with their children for intentional time, meaningful conversations and activities centered around a different character-building topic each month.

Join us for our first meeting this week on Friday for "Pops with Pops"!

Students are invited to attend with their dad or father figure. Dads and father figures should register through Shadeville’s All Pro Dad chapter using the QR code or registration information on the flyer.

When you arrive, please check in with the front office unless otherwise directed by the school.
