🏐💙 Staff supporting staff! Our Walnut crew showed up to cheer on our very own Coach Erin Barry as Southmont took on North Montgomery in volleyball! We love supporting one another—on and off the court!

Go, Southmont! ❤️🤍🏐

For Christian, getting involved at Southmont Junior High was easy. From the classroom to the football field and wrestling mat, he has found a welcoming community and opportunities to challenge himself in ways he didn’t expect.

The activities he loves motivate him to keep his grades on track, while helping him grow as both a student and teammate.

This is Christian’s Southmont Experience.

Meet the 2026–2027 Youth Civic Engagement Council!

We had our first meeting of the year and are so excited to be back! We’re looking forward to continuing to make a difference and creating a positive change throughout the Montgomery County community.

We are incredibly grateful to Mayor Barton for creating this opportunity for high school students to have a voice, share their ideas, and play an active role in our community. We’re also thankful to the Youth Service Bureau for welcoming us and hosting for our meeting!

We are grateful for community partners who continue to find meaningful ways to support our students and families. ❤️

Through its Propane with Purpose program, Keystone Cooperative recently donated $7,500 to Southmont Schools to help reduce student lunch debt. Southmont was one of 34 rural school districts to receive support through the program, which turns something as simple as a propane delivery into an opportunity to give back to the communities Keystone serves.

We are incredibly thankful for our partnership with Keystone and for their continued investment in Southmont students. Thank you for making a difference in our schools and our community!

The Southmont Experience looks a little different for every student.

When Jordanna T. and her older siblings transitioned from homeschooling to Southmont, their family was looking for a smaller, rural school community where they could thrive. Today, Jordanna is a freshman taking on the challenge of honors classes, finding her place in choir, and growing through meaningful friendships and leadership opportunities.

Hear from Jordanna and her mom about their family's decision to choose Southmont and the experience they've found here. ❤️

A little midweek breakfast treat at Walnut Elementary School! 🧇

Students celebrated making it halfway through the week with Waffle Wednesday yesterday - complete with whipped cream, because obviously that's the best way to do it!

A pretty sweet way to spend a Wednesday at Walnut!

Sometimes, finding the right school can change everything.

When 2026 graduate John Smaltz came to Southmont as a sophomore, he was looking for the high school football experience. What he found was a community of teammates, friends and teachers who helped make Southmont feel like home.

Now, John is taking his next step—heading to college and continuing his football career.

Hear John share what made his Southmont experience special. ❤️
