Crawfordsville Middle School will be having sign ups for the 7th and 8th grade baseball teams this week at lunch. Information will be given to the players next week about workouts starting soon.

Repairs have begun to Beautiful Baldwin Field!

At this point here are the latest changes to the home field schedule through 4/27 at 3:00 PM:

Monday (today):
7th Grade at WeBo HS - 6PM start
8th Grade practice at Baldwin - 4:15-5:30 PM

Tuesday (4/28):
7th Grade practice at Baldwin
8th Grade - Game vs. Brownsburg CANCELED - we tried to play at Brownsburg, Wabash and CHS and all fields have games tomorrow. Practice at Baldwin - 4:15-5:30 PM

Wednesday (4/29):
7th Grade at Lafayette Jeff (McCaw Park - Union St. and Creasy Lane, Lafayette) - 6PM start
8th Grade at Tri-West HS - 6PM start

Thursday (4/30):
7th Grade practice at Baldwin
8th Grade Home vs. Cascade playing on the Crawfordsville Athenian Varsity Field - 6PM start

Friday (5/1):
7th Grade at Danville HS - 6PM start
8th Grade practice at Baldwin

New update!

Home game only updates for the week based on the impact of the circus combined with rain and our Beautiful Baldwin Field!

First of all, please don't air any social media "rants" on this page regarding the City or Parks Dept. The Mayor and the Director of Parks and Recreation for Crawfordsville have both been involved today to help us get a plan to be able to use our field soon! They have been very helpful and responsive. Negative comments will be removed immediately.

Your coaches throughout the Athenian Baseball Program have been working to reschedule our home games to away games this week so we don't lose a chance to play.

Monday - 7th Grade now plays at WeBo High School at 6PM

Tuesday - still waiting to hear from Brownsburg West. Our HS field is not an option on Tuesday.

Wednesday - 8th Grade now plays at Tri-West HS at 6PM

Thursday - 8th Grade will play a home game vs. Cascade at the Crawfordsville High School Field at the Athenian Baseball Complex at 6PM

Away games remain as scheduled for this week.

Due to the circus planned for Baldwin Field tomorrow (real circus, not referring to baseball), the double header for the CMS 8th grade team vs. WeBo and Fountain Central has been canceled for Saturday, April 25th.

There is no practice scheduled for Friday. The next practice will be Monday, April 27th.

Capping off a great week of baseball for the CMS 8th grade team, Frankfort Team 2 visited beautiful Baldwin Field yesterday. The 8th grade Athenians were victorious with a final score of 12-2 over the visiting Hot Dogs to improve their record to 7-1.

It was another great pitching performance as starter Jake Decker pitched into the 6th inning to pick up the win and record 8 strikeouts. Reliever Josh Blackburn recorded the final two outs of the 6th inning to move the home team to the bottom half of the inning.

CMS went up by 10 runs in the 6th and that ended the game. Will Kellerman, Peyton Suiter and Josh Blackburn (2 RBI) all had two hits with one of Blackburn's hits being a double. Caleb Bray also had a double and Cam Saunders (2 RBI), Jake Decker (3 RBI), and Carson Tharp all singled for the home team. Jake Wemer also had an RBI.

Great job Athenian MS Baseball!

The CMS 7th Grade will play at Riverton Parke at 6:00 PM today. Directions: Riverton Parke High School field which is located just off Hwy 41, 7 miles south of Rockville.

The CMS 8th Grade will play Frankfort at home (Beautiful Baldwin Field) at 6:00 PM.

The CMS Athenian 8th Grade Baseball Team traveled to Hendricks County tonight to face the Danville Warriors.

For the second consecutive game the 8th graders came away with a victory behind strong pitching performances on this night from starter Cam Saunders and reliever Josh Blackburn to move to 6-1 on the season.

In a big offensive night the good guys plated 11 runs on 12 hits. Leading the way for the Athenians were: Josh Blackburn with 3 hits, Cam Saunders with 2 doubles (2 RBI), Jake Decker with 2 hits (1 RBI), and Will Kellerman, Jake Wemer (1 RBI), Caleb Bray, Carson Tharp and Caleb Lear (2 RBI) all with 1 single on the night.

Cam Saunders went 5 innings recording 9 strikeouts and Josh Blackburn came on in relief to close the game and recorded another strikeout for CMS totaling 10 for the game. The final score was 11-5.

The 8th Grade returns home tomorrow night at 6:00 PM to play Frankfort at Beautiful Baldwin Field.

The 2-0 7th Grade Team travels to Riverton Parke for a 6:00 PM contest.
